“What a surprise?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

We are absolutely blown away by the fantastic view from our pool and enjoy each of the terraces that accompanied our two level villa. The villa is quirky in its design. It contains both antique and modern Balinese furnishings which add to the unique interest and unlike many other villas new is not always preferred.
My partner, has just conducted business from one of the outdoor terraces successfully, whilst I swam in the pool ( it has two).
When people comment on TV ( who cares).... You can do that while at home. We never turn them on.
We both feel that this villa is ideal for relaxing and working ..... Barefoot, carefree and discreet.
Perfect.

Room Tip: Aga suite for privacy, views

This is our forth stay in taman bebek and it just gets better. We had a lovely scenic drive up from Kuta and it is always like arriving in a stylish, exotic and absolutely beautiful paradise. we had room 28 this time which is on the ground floor but because of the clever design this one offers different but wonderful aspects. we have stayed in the bali aga room upstairs in the past. Now that is really special but we really loved the room we had. The view to the West across the fabulous pool and garden area is just wonderful. eating the wonderful breakfast on the verandah is the most inspiring experience. the staff are all local and they all have that wonderful friendly balinese manner. they are great jokers in bali and can really share a joke. The women are all so graceful and calm. watching them do something simple like carrying the breakfast tray is like watching a graceful dance. The reception at the TB is the most wonderful pavilion. It is based on the famous Javan design( can't remember the style name). Unfortunately there is still no wifi in the rooms( although there is in the villas) but it is nice to step out of the door and set up the ipad in the reception area. Erwin even allowed me to use his desk top to do some serious work. There is a new female marketing manager , Koman who is a wonderful person. Friendly and so professionally
efficient. we always get a little scooter to zip over to Ubud on and a click of the fingers and it arrives as if out of the air. TB is ideally located for getting to Ubud on the little back road. We have done the rip in less than 10 min on a good day and NO speeding. TB is just so stylish that you realise how invigorating it is to be surrounded by beautiful things. The gardens are just out of this worl having been designed by the world famous Made' Wijaya and his Kebun Kammandos. They have even made a new breakfast poolside pavilion but the way it is built is so much in synergy with nature that it is truly amazing. They have planted four mature trees and have built the grass roof onto them. The trees poke through the thatch and are now sprouting new growth. You have to see it to believe it.The pool is over 20m and is absolutely perfect for keeping fit. there is a shallower bit at one end if you want to do a bit of water resistance walking.Small birds line up and drink at one end and you can glimpse the famous Sayan terraces through the trees and lush vegetation. It is just a bit of heaven. The walk through the villas is unbelievable. the gardens are some of the best in Bali AND that is saying something! The villas themselves are absolutely fabulous. They are all different designs and have the most wonderful features. It is like you have gone back in time to a quieter more attractive space and time. Now if you need an early dinner or lunch you MUST eat at the Warung sayan which is part of the complex. It is run by the most gorgeous and friendly Koman and her family. The Nasi Champur is the best we have ever had and the BBQ chicken and fish is delicious. The verandah is a haven from the hustle of the vehicles wizzing by and you have the gardens of Taman bebek villas behind you. Try a iced lemon tea. This is a gem and not to be missed. There has been some less than sympathetic construction near the TB recently but they have cleverly been building the garden up to hide any effects.TB have had to adjust their pricing on some of the villas due to the selfishness of these newcomers but really they are not imposing as the gardens just superimpose over them. we are planning to go again next year for a special occasion with the whole family and we cannot weight. We will probably have to use the TB driver as some will not mount the scooters but even that is very reasonably priced and the river is a lovely chap and very safe. Do yourself a favour and try this lovely place if you are in the hills. It is much nicer than staying in Ubud.

Room Tip: If you are a bit avant guard and arty ask for the Bali aga as the painting and features of the room...

This place is real beautiful in a savage way but beware it is not for the faint hearted. Our experience was not the best, we were placed in a great looking villa (from the outside). It wasn't the cleanest… the AC did not work and it was super hot and humid. It was impossible to sleep. There were all sorts of weird noises, one of them being a crazy gecko that ran around all night making its characteristic sound. We requested that our breakfast be packed for the next day for an early morning trip (we were returning for a second night) but alas, when we got up there was none to be found and no breakfast of course. Second night was a little better because after 3 requests someone showed up to fix the AC. When we checked out the person in charge was apologetic about all the bad. I would stay away from this place unless you are into rough sleeping accommodations.

We have spend 6 days in the nicest villa Made of taman bebek.
We all enjoy our great trip ! First of all you have a "private" swimming pool at the feet of your villa.
The hotel is so quiet and Zen. The big swimming pool is wonderfull and a pleasur after a day walking in Ubud.

All peoples working at Taman bebek are really wonderfull particulary the 3 womens preparing the best and tasty breakfast (chiken rice, continental breakfast...)

In 1 month in Bali, we find Ubud the greatest place in the island, not only the Hostel but also the city too. Rice terraces, temples, monkey forest... all in Ubud is real and peacefull.
If you want to bring some gifts buy in Ubud and not at the end of your trip in the really expensive and not interesting area of Kuta !

Thanks to Taman bebek and particulary to the cooking team for this delicious journey !

Room Tip: If you have the choice select Made villa !

DO NOT trust Taman Bebek's main booking agent named "ABL Tours & Travel".

Firstly, they seem to have hijacked a booking from right under our noses.

My fiance and I booked a room online, at a place called Sayan Terrace -- or so we thought.

The booking got somehow inadvertently diverted to booking a place at Taman Bebek, which is sited just next door! We only found this out when we turned up at Sayan Terrace, where there was no booking for us. After poking round a bit, we found out the booking had somehow been made at Taman Bebek, the neighbour to Sayan Terrace!

(Side note on Taman Bebek: The staff at Taman Bebek showed us to spacious but dank chalet. It boasted what they call a 'jungle valley view', but you actually look into overgrowth and the messy construction of new chalets right in front-below you.)

Already upset that we did not get the resort we had chosen, we naturally rejected it.

We had booked a few nights, and the cancellation fee was for the first night. So we asked the hotel staff to contact the booking agent, "ABL Tours & Travel". Halfway through the call, the Taman Bebek phone died because their power generator failed! For the next ten minutes we waited, but it did not revive, so we gave up and went to another hotel. The Taman Bebek staff advised us to settle it ourselves, which we have been trying to do FOR A FEW MONTHS.

Which brings me to my second point: From September 12 to today, Jan 13, we have been trying to get back our refund of US$421. This is for the balance of the nights where we did not stay at Taman Bebek. But they have not done so, despite repeated calls and emails! It is tantamount to thievery!

They even wrote us a mail in Dec 12 saying they would refund us, but have not honoured their promise. It has been FOUR months they have withheld the money. Beware, as they will email you very quickly when confirming a booking, but totally ignore you when it comes to refunds.

Please, be forewarned to AVOID using:

The company "ABL Tours & Travel" or "Ayu Bali Lestari Tours And Travel"
Their emails "rsv@abltravel.com", "abldirector@baliwww.com", "ablservice@baliwww.com"; "abl@abltravel.com>"
Their websites "baliwww.com", "villas-bali.com"; and
Their staff "Budi Astawa", "I Gede Sanat Kumara".

They are cheats!
