I stayed at this hotel in October 2009 on my honeymoon but I can't get it out of my mind and I just realised I never wrote a review at the time so I am doing so now! I honestly keep thinking about this hotel and cannot wait to go back there. I cannot believe the negative reviews for this hotel - did they really go to the same place as us????

A beautiful hotel, amazing setting, excellent staff with a really personal service, beautiful rooms (we stayed in a suite and it was a two-storey house), amazing breakfast which just kept coming, and the kind of place you just don't want to leave.

Must visit, must stay in if your budget allows (we got a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal so look out for this). I cannot recommend highly enough!

Room Tip: Suites are lovely and spacious and nearer to the main building/restaurant etc. Villas are larger and...

What an impressive property. From arrival to departure : what a great place in the middle of the jungle. Of course, this is a hotel in the middle of the nature, so you have to coop with jungle noises, insects and vegetation. Though, the architecture and design is just fantastic.

We had a villa at the Ayung river (number 18) which was stunning. Very privat with own pool, big bathroom, dressing room, shower outside, nice terrace and sundeck. All in excellent condition ! We stayed 3 nights here and we have zero complains : everything went smooth, service is impeccable.

Of course, the place is expensive, though the quality is at the same level.

Breakfast is good (not great), though it is unforgettable to take your breakfast with a view on the treetops of the forest and the noise of the sacred ayung river in the background.

Trip to Ubud takes 10 minutes by car and 30 minutes by foot (very nice walk if you can avoid the busy streets). We walked it very day and took a taxi back. Very good food also in town and some cosy bars with life music.

We are looking forward to go back to Four seasons Sayan.

After seeing so many wonderful reviews about Four Seasons at Sayan we decided to check it out ourselves. when moving from St Regis Nusa Dua where everything was top notch (hoverer prices to match it, but was absolutely worth every dollar we spend there)

Well we've made a big mistake, please don’t get us wrong as place and location are beautiful, but because of the isolation nothing in near approximates provide you with access to shops, restaurants so you’re completely relaying on hotel.

Food in hotel was very, very mediocre, no decent dinnerware but with Michelin restaurants price tag. Rooms are in need of updating and bathroom toiletries almost non existent just the very basic local staff in very unattractive wicker baskets.
Originally we booked suite but it turnout to be duplex - not very nice so we paid additional $150 a day for villa which was nice but little bit run down & overgrown with vegetation, so only view we could have was on tree tops & sky but was very private.

Service in hotel was good but not in par with Nusa Dua hotels and spa facility very good but again as every thing else very expensive.
However there was free very good internet speed & wi-fi.
All in all we felt that main motivation there was to get as much money from unsuspected
guest as possible. No where else in Bali we pay soooo much for very little.

Our advise to others is to check different places in Ubud.
For example Royal Pita Maha offer even better views & accommodation for much lover price.

The Four Seasons is the perfect place to rest, relax and be pampered. The physical location of the hotel is stunning; in my opinion, one of the most beautiful spots I have ever visited. If you can't stay here, just come to visit and enjoy the views of the jungle and flowing river. We were upgraded to a villa and thought it was perfect; for those seeking privacy, be sure to take a villa. The staff is excellent; the hotel is clearly very well managed. In all, the price of the room represents excellent value for money. HOWEVER...be forewarned that the price of food is very high, especially compared to other Bali 5 star hotels. A normal breakfast runs $50 per person, and lunch and dinner are scaled accordingly...But this hotel is still one of those "not-to-miss" places in Asia.

We stayed in this hotel near Ubud for a week in a poolvilla. The villa was spacious, luxurious, and well decorated. Also a very nice outdoor area next to your private pool.
The hotel is very scenic set against a hillside in a valley with a river flowwing through it.

The whole terrain is very well kept and has a tranquil atmosphere. However at the hefty price of around 700 dollars a night, you are allowed to expect great facilities and great service. The staff certainly do their utmost to live up to their reputation.

The only minor point is the pricing of wines in the restaurants. You don't expect it to be cheap, but a too warm served, very average/poor Chiraz for 33 dollars a glass is betond excessive.

The hotel looks like a Niemeyer design in the middle of rice fields. Very relaxing. Warm, smiling staff that genuinely goes out of their way to be helpful. Great gym, and they bring you cool lemongrass scented towels mid workout. Very nice touches.

Room Tip: Check hotel websites we got 4 nights for the price of 3.

excellent architecture and amazing view. the hotel itself isn't new, so dont expect gadgets or ultra high-tech touch. service is at least commendable. the pool was kinda sad and small. in any case i will still highly recommend it simply because it's a beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: contact the hotel directly, look out for free night stay after 2 or 3 paid nights.
