Check In : Late check out due to diving in Nusa Penida. It was smooth and very relaxing view. Welcome drinks was very refreshing and good.

Room : We are having Duplex Suite. Honestly, I don't like the idea of having 2 floor suite. It was my mistake when do the booking. Everything was great except the bathroom. There are wear and tear product that should be taken care properly. Water leaking from shower cubicle to the toilet could be avoided if maintenance was perfectly executed. Another minor mistake when the lotion smell goes wrong. But the service recovery was very fantastic, 2-3 minutes.

Landscape : Beautiful and very well taken care of. Can see a lot of staff at the paddy fields and around the resort for this.

Service : This was huge different from 5 star and luxury. You can't go wrong. Everybody trying to chat like we are known for a long time. Impressive! You can find high level management in the lobby.

Breakfast : Fantastic and very good quality. You can order what you want either at restaurant or served at the suite.

Overall, its very nice stay and I hope to stay again in the future.

Room Tip: Villa or course if you can spend or 1 level suite would be perfect.

Thank you for your feedback.

Allow me to clarify to all readers, the resort has been completed refurbished and renovated. We completed all villas in December of 2012 and the suites in May of 2013. However, your comments are well noted as this is clearly an issue of our Housekeeping and Maintenance doing a more thorough job in our preventive maintenance program/schedule. Rest assured this can be addressed immediately and rectified.

The various issues you encountered and faced during your stay are inexcusable and my sincere apologies for our oversight. I am glad they were rectified immediately and swiftly.

We shall continue to make every effort by being present in the lobby and speaking to our guests, but delighted that you noticed and it is much appreciated.

Thank you once again for staying with us and look forward to welcoming you back.

Sincerely
Uday

The suite: We had been upgraded to a family suite located in the main building, looking down to the Ayung River - with spacious master bedroom, one smaller bedroom, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, large living room. Comfy king bed in master bedroom. I so loved the walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Large tub by the big window in master bathroom, daily refill of bath salt. Rain shower in both bathrooms - heavenly. Sandalwood incense and bath salt in the master bathroom, complete toiletries (including hairpins, nail clipper, after sun gel). Flat screen TV in every room, with over 30 cable channels (not that we came here to watch TV). CD player in the TV cabinet, with the CD loaded ready to play (strangely the CD is Sundanese gamelan music, which is good but it could be better if they have Balinese music CD too). Oh and did I say big, comfy bed in master room?

Food/restaurant: Nothing like having good food surrounded by greenery and accompanied by the sound of the river below, either at Ayung Terrace (where breakfast is served) or River Side Cafe (by the river/pool). Good breakfast spread, great coffee. The satay and the lumpia goreng were delicious! Beef tenderloin for dinner was a standout - tender, juicy, done just right. Room service was quick and just as tasty.

Gym: Wide selection of equipment - treadmills, steps, weights, strength training, even yoga mats. Personal trainer readily available to help. Gym looks out to a patio with beach chairs and jacuzzi/plunge pool - choice of warm or hot plunge. Plunge pools look out to the river below - great view. We spent half hour in the warm jacuzzi before having our massage at the spa just across the gym.

Spa: The Balinese massage we had was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l. Knowledgeable masseuse. There is a spa villa but we had our massage in the couples room in the main building. Right level of temperature, lighting and music in the room. Steam/sauna facilities inside both male and female changing rooms.

Transportation: we paid for airport transfer (in and out). Car was a Toyota (I think it was an Innova) with wifi, iPod, charging cable for iPhone/android, bottled water and sweets. Complimentary rep available to assist with luggage and checking in at the airport if required. There is free shuttle service to and from Ubud that leaves every 2 hours (first departure from hotel 9am, about 20 mins ride to Ubud). The hotel is on a hill slope so walking around on the property is quite a workout in itself, albeit being surrounded by rice fields and greenery. You can always hop on one of the buggies cruising up and down the property - from the lobby at the top all the way down to the river bank - or get the staff to call for one.

Activities: Information about the activities on the property is available in the booklet provided when you check in. Everyday there are different activities (morning yoga, morning walk to the village, cycling). We missed the Balinese dance the night we arrived (Wednesday) but thankfully managed to catch the next one (Friday). The dance was held on the level where the bar is - it is an event not to be missed. Apparently the yoga session is held on the roof platform where you will be surrounded by the pond, trees and coconut trees, and the sky - I did not manage to go this time because the bed was so comfy.

If there is any improvement area to note, it is this: the stairs from the main building (to the left of the restaurant) down to the path by the river is quite steep, one could use a railing (one side of the stairs would do). The tub could use a handle so one could get out more safely.

Bottomline: if you want luxury, pampering, peace and quiet, closer to nature, this is the place to be.

WOW! Thank you for a very detailed area by area feedback that is nothing but positive. We truly appreciate your kind words as it's through such feedback that gives us the motivation to strive to do better and improve on what we have.

We try to make every effort to make this a "dream honeymoon" or a "piece of paradise" for all.

We appreciate the comment on the railings by the stairwell and a handle for the tub, we shall most definitely look into it. Thank you.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

A perfect start to a wonderful life together in one of the most breathe taking settings. The Four Seasons Sayan was beyond wonderful. The customer service, activities and spa were beyond fantastic. The staff here are all extremely nice and helpful. My husband and I had a wonderful stay and look forward to one day returning. The only down fall was the lunch options however, Ubud is just down the road where we very much enjoyed meals at Bridges and Sari Organik.

Returning to the Four Seasons Sayan for the third time, it's sublime fabulousness is as evident and impactful as our first visit.

The riverfront villas are truly riverfront and I can't imagine staying in any other room/villa type here. and feel both private and safe. Each villa offers every mod con, but this never detracts from the peacefulness; allowing to to truly wind down. With the glass doors opened, your bed faces out overlooking the infinity edged plunge pool (which is the perfect size) and further to the river and jungle. Serenity now.

Calling for the porter to collect you in a golf buggy is still a thrill - they arrive promptly and offer polite, genuine conversation.

The Ayung Terrace restaurant (where breakfast is served) is a once-in-a-limetime location; it's not often you can sip black coffee in surrounds like these.

Everything feels VERY James Bond ;)

Thank you again for the three most blissfully relaxing nights of our year and we will most certainly return.

Room Tip: Must book a riverfront villa to get the ultimate Four Seasons Sayan experience. Villas 15-21 are the...

Everything feels James Bond, but I miss MONEY PENNY to help me at times with my work emails!

Thank you very much for your kind words. The River Front Villas continue to be the top seller and the favorite amongst more return guests. Especially post renovation and refurbishment of the rooms product. It is modern and has all the amenities, but has not lost the essence of Bali, maintained a sense of place in the details.

Thank you once again for your motivating words and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Kind regards,
Uday

I do not know how this property is not number 1 in TripAdvisor. From the moment you step out of the comfortable town car (with complimentary wifi), the entire resort takes your breath away. Walking into reception, as the view of the resort came more and more into sight, I was astounded by how beautiful the property was. The grounds were immaculate, and we did a tour of the property to fully appreciate everything from the amenities to the plants.

As expected, the Four Seasons hospitality is world class and the staff (unintentionally) did everything they could to make me want to move out of my home and into the resort forever. I highly recommend the "Day in the Life of a Balinese Farmer" excursion, where we got to tour the surrounding Sayan village and work with a local farmer to plant and work in the rice paddies, followed by an amazing spa experience. That was probably the highlight of our trip.

The property is also close to Ubud and there is complimentary town car shuttle that will take you to and fro. The rooms are amazing and will take your breath away - they are bigger than most people's condos at home. The food is so good and so fresh and the drinks are also delicious.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the FS Sayan is how integrated they are with the community, as over half their staff are right from the local village. The land is shared as well as the harvests and though the costs of staying here are high, it helps to know that a good portion of that money is going towards the villagers of Sayan.

Thank you for an amazing experience and we hope to return soon.

Room Tip: Stay in a villa if you can afford it.

No GM could ask for a better compliment than what you stated. Thank you so much for your kind words. Truly motivating to all of us.

The Balinese farmer experience is a special experience that is catered to adults and kids. Children love this activity as they get all muddy and get hosed down, experience planting rice and love the village walk through the forest. It's a perfect family activity.

Here at the Four Seasons we try to incorporate the community into the day to day life of the resort. From hiring local farmers, gardeners, security staff and second generation families in our restaurants etc. Most the staff also own the land the resort is built on so there is a genuine care and love for the resort that is beneficial for both.

Once again, thank you so much for your kind words and we hope you will spread the word and will have another opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Sincerely
Uday

Spent four nights in a riverfront villa. The property is beautiful. The service is excellent and polished. I highly recommend the riverfront villa. The quiet peaceful view and the plunge pool are a great way to relax.

For on site activities we did the village walk and the bike ride and both were great. The Ayung river barbecue night was AWESOME.

We did room service for every breakfast and a couple lunches. I thought the prices were reasonable; yes expensive but not outrageously so given where you are and the level of service. All the food we got through room service was very good in preparation and presentation.

It's pretty quick/easy/cheap to take a taxi to and from Ubud central.

The general manager came to greet us when we checked in; that was a nice touch.

Room Tip: We loved our riverfront villa.

Thank you for your comments!

The River Front Villas are the most popular as one cannot get any closer to nature, the forest, the river than these villas. One does feel immersed into nature and it's an incredible experience.
I am glad you enjoyed your experience with us.

Your feedback on the pricing is much appreciated. The price reduction we have done is having a positive impact and glad you feel it's reasonable.

I shall continue to meet guests on arrival as best as I can and continue to make do my best to make it a special and memorable experience for all those that come.

We look forward to welcoming you back.
