“wow - what a place!”
Reviewed 2 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The new Mrs D and I stayed here on our ‘mini moon’ in May, it really is the perfect retreat and the best accommodation experience I’ve had in the UK – the accommodation specification is incredible. In addition, everything from the welcome meal, the supplies (fresh eggs, milk, butter, condiments, wine!) and the personal touches for our special occasion were spot on. Location wise it’s also great, very secluded with walks on your doorstep and the usual peak district sites within easy reach by a short drive. Can’t wait to go again - thank you so much Lynn & Nigel.

“Superb! Best ever stay..Great value for an Alton Towers trip”
Reviewed 17 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We have just spent a short break at Ford Old Hall Barn which was fabulous! The standards are exceptional & the place is spotless, we didn't want for anything. This has to be the best holiday accommodation place we have ever stayed in.
We booked the barn as we were spending a couple of days at Alton Towers where we had intended to stay but the price we were quoted for a mid week night in one of their new lodges was more than the barn for our whole stay! As the barn is only a very short drive away & has the fabulous hot tub we made the right decision.
We arrived to a home made meal of chilli & rice with a bottle of red wine too, all included in the price a great welcome!
There was a home baked loaf, croissants etc which made our breakfasts & we dined at a couple of local pubs which Lynn recommended.
The hospitality we received from the owners, Lynn & Nigel was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, the barn is very private but they were on hand to answer questions if we needed them.
We will definitely recommend to family & friends, especially ones wanting to visit Alton Towers as the value for money versus the accommodation on the fun park is fantastic.
Thank you Lynn & Nigel we will definitely be returning.

“Perfection”
Reviewed 16 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

My partner and I booked this trip to celebrate an anniversary. We stayed here for three nights and next time we will be staying longer!

The barn itself was extremely clean and everything looked brand new. All the facilities were excellent and the hot tube was out of this world. There is no hidden cost so you can use the facilities as much as you like. The extra touches Lynn and Nigel go to really made the trip for us, and there was nothing that was too much trouble for them to do. We also used the log burner, which we would recommend because it really created a lovely atmosphere.

The area is lovely too and plenty to see if you like exploring. We would suggest Ashbourne if you like a quiet village for some cream tea. We also went for a superb lunch on the Friday to the Devonshire arms in Hartington about 30mins by car again we would highly recommend.

Overall, you can’t go wrong if you decided to book with Lynn and Nigel, we guaranty you will have a fantastic time! We can’t wait to be able to go here again.

“Very relaxing - just what the doctor ordered”
Reviewed 12 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I travelled to the cottage with 3 friends. As busy professionals (my friends also all have young families) we were all in need of a rest and some relaxation time.

The cottage was just what we were looking for. It was quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

We had everything we needed for the weekend and a bit more! The lovely home cooked meal on our arrival was a great perk. We also were given a nice bottle of wine, some chocolates, a loaf of home made bread, eggs and croissants with preserves which was a kind and thoughtful touch. Half way through our stay we were given some home made ginger cake which really brighten up our afternoon!

Everything was high quality from the bedding to the towels and the decor. A lot of time and effort has gone into the making of this cottage which makes it even more special and gives a real feeling of luxury. We adored the hot tub and the chance to really switch off from everything and spoil ourselves.

Although the cottage is on the hosts property, we had absolute privacy at all times. It is nestled in beautiful countryside and there are some splendid routes around to walk or run which I did each day.

“What a superb home-from-home !!”
Reviewed 19 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We cannot thank Lynn and Nigel enough for their welcome, and for the fantastic property they have made available. The reviews cannot do it full justice - it surpassed our every expectation. The meal and welcome pack on arrival were gratefully received (as was the ginger cake later in our stay) and we found everything we could want (and more!) was provided.
The hot tub was a great bonus. Even as a couple in our late 60's, we made good use of it!
Lynn and Nigel deserve every success - we just wish we lived nearer so that we could visit more easily.
If you are looking for a relaxing break in the Peak District - look no further! You have found it !

“As good as it gets”
Reviewed 18 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Travel instructions were very clear. Welcoming meal (really good) and wine were a nice touch. Could not fault the presentation of the barn or the owners' attention to detail - it really did offer us a luxury retreat for a few days away from home. Bed was so comfortable especially after a long day's walking the Peaks and easing away the aches and pains in the hot tub. Will definitely return. Well done Lynn and Nigel - a true gem!

“wonderful holiday rental”
Reviewed 29 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Have enjoyed 3 nights at this wonderful property. It is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Superb build and luxury touches (hot tub as one example) made our stay special. Left first meal cooking in the slow cooker with accompaniments. Wine, home baked bread, chocolates were just a few of the special extras.
Set in rural surroundings with many walks from the door. Even though weather was not friendly everything else was. Would love to visit again.
