“The new Assheton arms”
Reviewed 31 March 2012 via mobile

My friend and I visited the ash yesterday for it's re launch after total refurbishment. We were not disappointed, the decor and ambience were superb. We shared a fish platter to start it was delicious ,I followed with a rib eye steak ,cooked to perfection with chunky chips to die for ,with no room for pudding I slipped an ice cream in, perfect! All this accompanied by wonderful chilled white wine and a priceless view of . It cannot fail !

“Passionate staff.”
Reviewed 4 February 2012

We booked for lunch and rang to say we would be unavoidably delayed, this was no problem.
The staff are passionate about the place, explaining what was going on, what would be changed during the closure, even trying to put names to the old photos they had found.
I had
king prawn and lobster sauce cocktail--lovely
fish pie--gorgeous
My husband had
soup--excellent
steak and ale pie--excellent
Neither of us could fit a pudding in althoug we would have liked to.
It is not the cheapest place to dine but the food and staff were faultless.

“Better than it's sister restaurant both for food and service”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

Whilst needing the planned renovation the staff provide excellent service with a good attitude and the food is also very good considering the kitchen's lack of size. When the restaurant re-opens after the refurb it is to be hoped staff maintain the enthusiasm currently being shown and food standards are maintained. Well worth the drive and dogs are made welcome too.

We visited the assheton arms on a saturday evening ,the welcome was very good. The staff were professional the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were offered wine to taste a nice touch, and felt the wines were reasonably priced, the new owners deserve to be successful(not Marco Pierre white)will definitely return

“Great food and a friendly welcome”
Reviewed 6 January 2012

The Assheton is under new ownership so we decided to give it a try. It's a beautiful old pub in a picturesque setting. We were a big group - nine of us - but we were well looked after by the very friendly and professional staff. The menu is quite small but we felt that was a good thing - everything would be fresh - and since they are only just starting out it is understandable. Everything was delicious and I would especially recommend the fishcakes which were full of flavour, and the sponge pudding with real custard which was light and exactly as it should be. House wine was very good and reasonably priced. We had a great evening and I'm only sorry we don't live locally any more! but we will be back next time we visit!
