The Rose & Crown Hotel
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Guildford
Reviewed 23 April 2014

The Rose and Crown is reputed to be Perth’s oldest pub and it could well be as it is blessed with a pleasant welcoming atmosphere. It is a large and rambling establishment with plenty of space for food and drink service. The restaurant is both inside and outside and the service is good as is the food. While the menu is uncomplicated it is honest and straightforward. Choice is rather limited but offering enough variety to cater for most tastes. It is however rather overpriced for what it really offers, good pub food. Nevertheless the Rose and Crown is well worth a visit and is sure not to disappoint.

This was a last minute booking. The receptionist handled my enquiry very efficiently over the phone. We stayed in one of the rooms in the main hotel. We liked the old world ambinence, the hotel being the oldest in the state. The room was a good size with access to the balcony, with an ensuite and air conditioning. The Rose and Crown is surrounded by several restaurants and historical tourist spots. Although there was a large number of people in the "beer garden" area of the hotel we did not find any problem from intrusive noise. We had breakfast at the hotel and found the food to be of good quality with very prompt service. I was impressed that I had an extra breakfast item that was not part of the bed and breakfast deal and they did not charge us for it. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Emerald room is quite adequate unless you have a need for a spare or one of the larger rooms.

Stayed here overnight and while the rooms were basic it was clean and spacious. We had a family room.

The restaurant was very good, food lovely and service good. Liked the breakfast basket which was useful as we had a very early flight.

We stayed recently in the accommodation on the pub car park of The Rose & Crown. The room is very basic, and should really be called a chalet or a motel, it no way resembles a hotel. The breakfast was in the pub garden which was adequate, but overall $200 for a chalet on a noisy pub car park, was regrettable!

Not a bad place at all, Good food, Quite, close to airport. Stayed for business, plenty of parking. Stayed in late January, check in was quick, waitresses very friendly in the garden restaurant area, would stay again.

Had dinner with some friends here including a mix of Adults and kids. Having booked a tabled fearing it would be very busy, we were seated in the white-linen laden tabled outdoor restaurant area. This is apparently distinct from the adjacent outdoor "bar" seated are, where there are tables and a different "bar" menu. After reading through the "restaurant area menu" and finding nothing that tickled the fancy of the kids, we asked if the kids could order a wood fired pizza from the "bar" menu (adults were happy to order from the "restaurant" menu). We were firmly told that it simply isn't possible to order from the "bar menu" when seated in the "restaurant area". We said ok, we can move to the bar area, order pizza for the kids, and then order restaurant menu items for the adults, but alas this was apparently not permitted either.

I can see no logic or reason to such inflexibility in serving customers, particularly given this place is in reality a pub attached to a hotel.

Service was the typical "you're lucky to be served by us" attitude.

Fail.

Stayed here for 2 nights and after reading reviews on here, I took earplugs and was very happy with everything. Yes its on the flight path but with my plugs I slept like a baby. The room is large, clean, comfortable and has little extras like a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, fan and aircon. Not cheap but nothing in Perth is! I had the salmon for dinner and it was superb, breakfast is included in the price and was plentiful. Highly recommend, its in the beautiful village like area of Guildford, lots of photo ops and wonderful coffee shops and antique stores, all just a walk away.
