Owner description: Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife. Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out. Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans. You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo. With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

“Great experience for young kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

I went with my mum and two little kids and a teenager. It was a quick trip to see a few animals as the parking was very very expensive for only a short amount of time..
It was overall a good experience the young ones enjoyed themselves. The animals all looked healthy and happy and well feed.
I was in a wheelchair which did make it sometimes a little difficult as the path in some areas ie the safari area was not really suited for it and with many areas up hills we did miss some animals.
Overall tho it was a nice time, we will go back but next time may get a taxi so to avoid parking.

I visted the zoo yesterday and would really not recommend it to anyone.
A massive $27 to enter and if you're not willing to pay an extra $1 for a map, chances are you are going to get lost with signage very far and few inbetween..
Lunch was a further dissapointment. I had fish and chips where I had to pay an extra 60c for tomato sauce and I'm still trying to figure out what I ate because the 'fish' was definitely not like anything I've had before.
The zoo is very well maintained but sometimes the vegetation is so lush and dense that you can't find the animals.
In addition evrything is an extra $5. The merry-go-round, special encounters and a few minutes on this high platform where you could see the giraffes from another angle.
Perth Zoo would never see me again.

“Lovely Zoo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

I visited the zoo with my mum while she was in Perth. We both loved it. Animals seemed happy and clean, unlike a few other we have visited.
We went first thing in the morning, in the middle of winter. Was very cold and most of the critters were still waking up and trying to find sun. But overall it was a great experience. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait to go back!

“beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

We travelled by train then got the ferry across and walked the rest of the way to the zoo. The tickets were abit on the expensive side. We went in and walked around seeing the animals and outlets for food. All the animals were relaxing and didnt seem agitated in the hot sun. Some animals like the koala and tasminan devil couldnt be seen properly but I suppose as they are in natural environment they will be hard to spot. Overall good day out.

“Food choices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

Very disappointed in the choices of hot food/meals the cafe had. My grandson is gluten, wheat and lactose intolerant and all they had to offer where a couple of snack bars. Told my daughter to go next door and she could get a piece of quiche, which cost her $12.50. No chips, nuggets, or sausage rolls, the normal cuisine of a child. In this day and age of special dietary requirements, very disappointing service for such a high profile tourist destination.
