This was my first time in Sri Lanka and my 1st Sri Lankan hotel.. a very pleasant introduction to Sri Lanka with the white ibis walking round the outdoor swimming pool when we arrived!! It was rainy, hot and very humid (but i guess thats Sri Lanka!) when I was there so it was a bit of dash in the rain from the rooms (in their separate blocks) to the main hotel for breakfast, but that's OK for me. This is a 'posh' hotel by Sri Lankan standards, the bar is quite expensive. The decoration is very good and ethnic in the communal areas, and all very nice to an English eye, but the facilities are. maybe not to an American eye (I learned - ref: lynette if you read this :-)). There is air conditioning, and the bathroom was fine for me .. but some may find holes - like no viable tv (I don't care), no room wifi (you have to sit next to the man in reception to get it and the staff don't really know what wifi is) and the food is limited, but very good. Overall i think the hotel was charming. (just don't expect the Dorchester in a country that's only 2 years on from a major civil war). Overall a great place to stay! - having stayed in few hotels after this in Sri Lanka, this was a good one!
