We stayed in this lovely apartment for two nights and felt very much at home from the start. The delightful host, Elizabeth, goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and is readily accessible if you need local travel advice. The apartment is part of an old coaching inn, so has lots of character and thick walls to make it very quiet. It is bright and airy, with openable windows. There is a delightful, high-walled courtyard at the entrance which has climbing roses. There were only two of us, but the apartment can easily accommodate four, since it has two separate bedrooms and sofas and dining table for four. The bathroom is on the upper floor, with the bedrooms, which is a bonus. The kitchen is very well-equipped, with a washer/dryer, dishwasher, and under bench fridge, which contains a freezer area. As well as the front courtyard, there is an upper level lawn area at the back, with trees and a clothes line. Drumconrath (or Drumcondra on maps /SatNav) is a very nice, friendly village, and convenient for exploring the Boyne Valley area, including the amazing temple/tomb at Newgrange and others nearby, as well as sites associated with the Battle of the Boyne. We would happily stay here again and recommend it to our friends.
Fabulous house in a great location. Lovely Irish village, close to the M1 so great for touring. I am Irish but have lived in Wales for 26 years and this is the perfect "home" for visiting relatives, but house is perfect for any reasons for visiting the area. The owners (next door) make you so welcome and as soon as you arrive you will feel at home.
Just back from a weekend staying in this cottage, which is lovely & had everything we needed. We received home made cakes from the owner & she was very nice. The cottage is in a small village with a village shop & a couple of pubs and the locals were very welcoming. We were staying here to attend a concert at Slane Castle which is about 10km away & Dublin is about an hour away so great location if you want to be away from city madness but in reasonable travelling distance for a visit.
We had a lovely stay in the 2 bedroom accommodation - Elizabeth could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. The cottage is quaint and quintessentially Irish from stem to stern; a tray of teacakes and china cups awaited us on the kitchen table, tea ready to be brewed and the stove was stacked with turf and ready to light. Front area is closed in and offers a place to sit and privacy from the road, bedrooms (2) are bright and comfortable, bathroom has a lovely hot shower. The entire place was spotlessly clean!! The village is lovely with three pubs (Muldoon's was lots of fun with traditional music on offer.) There's also a fully stocked shop in the village and gas station. Near Newgrange, Drogheda, Trim Castle, Slane Castle, Mellifont Abbey and Monasterboice. Highly, highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!
