Couldn't have been any better, great place, oozes character, and Rachel and Paul are probably the nicest hosts i have ever experienced. I cannot think of one thing that me or my family would have changed, b&b? We could have stayed in that wonderful house all weekend without bothering to go outside. Thank you very very much.

Easy to find location with car park to the rear up Church Lane. Friendly welcome on arrival with our cases carried up to our spacious room. We had booked the 4 poster bedroom, which turned out to be the Rector's room. Amazing history of previous owners from 18th Century to present day. Superb bed, linen and pillows. Warm and cosy too, with tasteful room decorations. Quiet library room packed with information on local attractions. Breakfast was nicely cooked and presented, with excellent choices.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay 6-8 September as we were attending a wedding at nearby Newburgh Priory. I emailed ahead and asked Rachel if we could check in earlier at 3.30pm as we had an opportunity to catch a direct train to Thirsk. Rachel replied immediately and said that would be fine. Rachel and Paul were very welcoming and very friendly hosts. The breakfasts were lovely. The house and decor was first class. Beds, mattresses and bed linen superior quality, could not fault. There was great attention to detail and some really nice touches. All in all could not fault and would highly recommend a stay here.

We would highly reccomend this hotel as a stay with or without children. We were made very welcome when we arrived our son also stayed and was very welcomed also. The rooms are very clean and could not fault them and we were provided with tea biscuits. Our breckfast was lovely and owner of here is very helpful.

We have just had a lovely one night stay in the Old Rectory which is a beautiful grade II listed building full of character. The bedroom was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. Paul made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was delicious. An earlier check in time would have been advantageous but other than that we can't fault it. Excellent value for money.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute.Paul went out his way to draw a map of area so we could take kids on cycle..great place to stay.We knew it was on outskirts of York but that suited our family and York was easy to get too on park and ride which is very cheap and easy to get to from The Old Rectory.

Myself and my husband have recently had a lovely stay at the rectory .
Rachel Paul and little Joseph were simply the best hosts we were made to feel very welcome .
I knew as soon as I walked in the front door and saw Rachel's , jo Malone candles, I was in the right place .
The bedroom was superbly decorated with a beautiful four poster bed ,everything is very in keeping with the period of the house .
Breakfast was cooked on the aga and was delicious .
I can't praise this establishment enough ,Rachel and Paul work extremely hard and I would recommend this guest house to anyone I can't wait to visit again .
