“Beautiful location, beautiful food, beautiful ambience ....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2013

In the heart of Portinscale, the original tearooms have been rebuilt into a beautiful contemporary Chalet which now does evening meals. We were quite taken aback by the quality of the food, gorgeous! It's all a bit special with a bit of theatre with the presentation but they've managed to keep a lovely relaxed atmosphere too.

Other than the obvious (the food) my other favourite bits about The Chalet are that the tables are well spread out so you don't overhear your neighbours conversations, and the whole extensive wine list is also served by the glass as well as the bottle (great if you're the driver and want one glass of your favourite wine), oh and the fabulous log wall! And the final big plus - dogs are welcome through the day in the tearoom! All just perfect for us!

“Nice lunch in the Chalet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2013

Lovely surroundings - quite possibly the most stylish tea room I've ever been in!? Very well presented food, spotlessly clean and a very imaginative menu. Service was very pleasant but not super-swift, and prices were at the high end - rather than melon & ham, opt for a Portinscale Pocket. That said, their Kendal mint cake is cheaper than Booths ; )
Overall a very nice experience, but not for the tight-fisted!

“Really lovely new restaurant for Keswick”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2013

We went as a couple for an evening meal to the chalet , the place is brand new , really nicely done decor is Swiss chalet style very contempory , natural woods and quality fiinishing touches make this an enjoyable place to eat ,
The food was delicious we had the sharing platter for two tasty and sensibly priced , the service was great , liked the fact we could see the chefs cooking everything fresh and beautifully presented .the menu is varied and different , and a good choice on the wine menu ,
This place also does lunches , teas and cakes etc it's perfect !!!
Would highly reccomend and we will be going again soon .

“A little gem in the heart of Lakeland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2013

Had a family lunch today in this newly opened tea rooms and restaurant. The warm and friendly welcome was just what we needed on a wet afternoon. A great selection of homemade soups, sandwiches, flatbreads, platters, snacks and salads will give something for every palette, as well as Kiddie Corner for the younger diners.

Specialities such as Cumberland sausage and pancetta Wellington and trio of figs with bramble jelly, gorgonzola pancetta crisps and pomegranate dressing, as well as Ploughman's Board with local cheeses and all day bakery.

Breakfasts from 9-11, lunches from 11-4 and evenings from 6:30-11 (Thursdays to
Mondays)
