Peter, myself and our grandson Gian-Piero stayed in two beautiful rooms ensuite. Graig and Claire are the most affable hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are not intrusive and have very good knowledge of what is available in the area. Cleansiness is extremely good, as is food and continous good service. We were very happy with our stay and I found all the facilities very accessible as I am disabled. The hotel itself is in a very good position and is a beautiful building, it has marvellous views of the lake...... Craig and Claire made it a home...!...we will definately make it our place to stay anytime we will be back to the lakes......just book and enjoy your stay...!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are perfect. Just book and let Craig and Claire put you were they know it will be the best...

Would thoroughly recommend staying here. Hosts Craig and Claire go out of their way to make you welcome and your stay memorable. Nothing was too much trouble and together with some lovely fellow guests we had such a good time we are looking forward to going back as soon as we can. The full English breakfast does just that - leaves you full and is excellent. Unfortunately we could not have dinner on the first night as orders are taken at breakfast so we ate out.As we were out and about on our second day we were unsure what time we would return we had to forgo ordering for that night also-and our fellow guests assured us we had missed a treat! We will certainly have dinner on our next visit!
The walk into Keswick is really pleasant and Portinscale is very pretty. All in all we would highly recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on front of house have better views of the Lake.

We stayed here for the first time over the August Bank Holiday weekend - something of a last-minute break so we were delighted to find Dalegarth House still had a vacancy when we came to look for somewhere to stay. The reviews given by previous visitors are absolutely spot on - we had a fantastic weekend and really couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. Craig and Clare couldn't have been more friendly as hosts - polite, helpful but never ever intrusive. From the welcoming cuppa (and superb homemade flapjack!) to our departure on Monday they were friendliness personified, always happy to suggest places to visit or good eating spots in town. A really nice touch was the small fridge in reception, from where you could take a small jug of fresh milk back to your room if you prefer fresh milk to the UHT sachets in the tea/coffee-making facilities in the room itself.

Our room (room 10) in the annex on the side of the house was fantastic - spacious, well laid out and with an excellent bathroom. We enjoyed the feeling of being separated from the main house, walking round to the front door for breakfast each morning was no problem at all and the room caught the sun beautifully in the afternoons - with chairs outside if we wanted to sit out and enjoy the weather.

We booked for bed & breakfast only and ate out in Keswick for our evening meals. Judging by the quality of the breakfasts we probably missed a trick here!

With our two boys (11 & 13) safely tucked away with their grandparents for the weekend we were looking for good quality accommodation in a great location and Craig & Clare really delivered. The atmosphere in the hotel was quiet but friendly and was exactly what we were looking for in a weekend break by ourselves.

I'd heartily recommend Dalegarth House and we'll certainly stay there again in the future.

We stayed here in July for a 2 night break. The room was very nice and spotlessly clean and the breakfast was one of the best I'd ever had! Clare and Craig are really friendly and welcoming, and always willing to give advice about local walks and activities. I just regret not having dinner there because if Claire's full English breakfast was anything to go by, the dinner must be amazing! I will next time! Portinscale is located within about a mile's walking distance of Keswick and is right on Derwent Water so a great choice of walks and water activities.

Just returned from a wonderful 2 night break at Dalegarth House. This really is a lovely place to stay. Our hosts Clare and Craig did a great job in making sure our stay was as perfect as possible. We had a lovely spacious room, spotlessly clean, plenty of light, a nice view of the fells and had some very thoughtful touches in the room. We booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and we are so glad we did as the food is fantastic. Clare and her mum do a great job in the kitchen and the menu was varied with plenty of choice. The village of Portinscale is very picturesque but if you want to go into Keswick you can take a scenic walk which takes around 20 minutes (highly recommended). We would have no hesitation in going back to Dalegarth and I am certain we will return in the future. A real gem in the Lakes.
