We spent two nights here whilst travelling around the Dales and the Lake District. On arrival we ordered tea and scones. The scones had obviously been put in the microwave and the fruit was burnt, not a good start! Although the bar food was reasonable the food in the restaurant left a lot to be desired, the same menu both nights with a limited choice. The first night I chose pork which I had to send back as it was almost raw. My husband had cheese instead of a pudding but this was charged as an extra as were all the vegetables.
The hotel is dark and dated and could do with a face lift.
On a positive note, all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Although the hotel is well situated just off the A66 this does mean that the noise of the traffic can be heard in the bedrooms.
There is a pleasant garden where you can have pre dinner drinks or bar food in the good weather which we were fortunate to have.More
