With each mile you drive up the scenic winding road, you distance yourself from work thoughts, noise pollution, the stressful daily commute and your mind relaxes which each lungful of crisp mountain air.
Simon and Ashley established their little business in a remarkably unspoilt corner of the Eastern Pyrenees with heavily wooded slopes and a small river running below. If you love walking or cycling or just sitting, you can indulge yourself. You'll certainly find yourself smiling a lot more. Its all so healthy!
On a personal note, it wasn't like being guests. We felt as if we were family staying over a long weekend, chatting together, the children playing together, and wondering when we would next get together.
We'd definitely go back every month, if we could - and Easter, and Christmas and....

There are just some places you don't want to share with the world, because they are just perfect the way they are: Montferrer and Can Lloquette feel like that to us!

If you are looking for a location that helps to soothe the soul, then the Pyrenean location of Can Lloquette will do just that! The views are stunning, the air fresh, the silence at times almost deafening.

Then there is Can Lloquette itself. What can we say? This Pyrenean farmhouse with it's converted buildings sits perfectly in its location. Le bergerie, a two bedroom, two bathroom gite, is pretty, very comfortable and well equipped (although if you are expecting a television this is not the place for you!). The little terrace behind the gite is perfect if you want a little time away from the pool and the garden and a real suntrap. The perfect spot to read a book, eat or just drink in the view and watch the little flock of Cameroon sheep (are you sure they aren't goats Simon?)

This is a place, just to sit and be, but if you start to get itchy feet, there is plenty to do within driving distance - the pretty fishing village of Collioure is a must! The little town of Prats de Mollo, just half an hour drive away, is known for its little music festival - the place almost rocks! The drive through the mountains to the pretty spanish town of Camprodon is stunning. Even the walk into the village in the morning to buy the croissants for breakfast will give you goosebumps.

Simon and Ashley are the perfect hosts, always ready to stop and chat, concerned to ensure that you have everything you need to have a good time and a font of local knowledge.

If, like us, you find your fellow guests are lovely people, then you have the makings of a perfect holiday.

This was probably as close to a perfect holiday as we could have hoped for! Even our 17 year old, exhausted from his AS levels had a great time; but then he needed a rest!

Simon and Ashley - thank you.

P.s. Contrary to other comments about the driveway it is not that bad - a immaculate tarmaced drive would not be in keeping with the natural beauty of the place. This is a mountain location! Take it easy and you will be fine.

“A peaceful and beautiful hideaway - something special”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Spent a very relaxing week here, it wasn't long before home and work became a vaguely-remembered dream. The house was tastefully decorated, comfortable and better-equipped than most holiday rentals, especially in the kitchen. Simon and Ashley were very warm and open - we enjoyed chatting to them and it felt like leaving friends as we had a coffee on the last morning.

The location won't be for everyone as it is fairly rural and accessed via gently winding mountain roads; but if you're looking for somewhere quiet (as we were) then I can't recommend this place highly enough.

“Lovely holiday”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Can Llouquette took longer to get to from Beziers airport than expected, and we arrived late at night. It seems very remote on first visit and after dark, but once you get to know the roads and get a feel for the place, the ten minutes or so to Montferrer or Prats doesn't seem too far. The track down to the cottages is very rough and when we arrived in a dark distant forest tired and hungry we couldn't have been happier with the warm welcome and the beautiful accommodation. The offer of a carafe of wine was most welcome, and we were so pleased that Ashley had put a travel cot in the spare room for our youngest, and a chest of toys for him, so thoughtful. The beds were comfortable, the cottage was cosy, and the view from the cottage in the morning was just amazing.

The owners were very helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, and although we saw them around during the day they were not at all intrusive and really very lovely people.

The pool was too cold to swim in comfortably in May, but no doubt will be fabulous later in the year. It's really a very lovely part of the world and I genuinely think we will return sometime. We would happily have stayed much longer than the week had our schedule allowed.

“Fantastic, stunning views brilliant to totally chill out”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Our friend Rhona booked this for myself and my husband and our two friends to celebrate her special birthday. Simon, Ashley and Sophia were very hospitable and made our stay memorable. The accommodation is first class the views are stunning and will certainly be making a return visit.
It is set in a very peaceful location so ideal if you want that chill out time but also perfect to go away with a group of friends as we did as a stunning place to entertain, Ideal for touring the surrounding areas which are breath taking. Simon, Ashley, Sophia we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all again for making our stay wonderful and being very hospitable it was very much appreciated love Donnella xx

“Lovely gite in an idyllic setting”
Reviewed 24 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Can Llouquette was an ideal setting for a tranquil family holiday. The location was beautiful, things to do were in reach but the location itself was very peaceful. The boys adored hopping in and out of the pool, playing on the swings, picnic-ing in the woods and jumping in the stream. The adults enjoyed being able to relax knowing the boys were happy in a safe and fun environment, with things to amuse them and get them good and tired so that they slept, meaning that we could spend the evening eating, drinking wine, watching the bats and listening to the stream below.
