I stumbled across this gem near the Caribbean coast of Colombia recently. After the stifling heat on the coast it was a great get away. It is in the small town of Minca about 30 minutes from Santa Marta but a world away from it and nearby Taganga in terms of atmosphere. You reach it on a path up past the church, there is no road access. It is a pretty steep walk but you are rewarded with a stunning view over Minca, the jungle, Santa Marta and the Caribbean coast. The hostel is rustic so don't expect air conditioning and private bathrooms but that's where its charm lies for me. What you will get is a super chilled atmosphere and an almost guaranteed stunning sun set every night. There is no guest kitchen but they provide a variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are a couple of nice walks to nearby waterfalls where you can have a refreshing swim, you can also use it as a stop to go further into the Sierra Nevada's. I went for a couple of days and ended up staying two weeks, after 6 months of travelling it was just the sort of chilled place I was looking for.
