I decided to book a room at Guys last minute on Sunday night for a stay on Monday night and the website for booking was more than helpful and the room was booked easily. We decided we wouldn't be in the room much so we just booked a standard room at £60 a night. We traveled from Blackpool and it was extremely easy to find and park my car which is always great. We checked into our room without any bother and arrived. I discovered my boyfriend had rang up in advance to add some wine and chocolates to our room which was a lovely surprise and he said the reception staff were really helpful when he rang up last minute for it to be arranged.
The room was great but we wished we had upgraded to the double deluxe room for the wet room and jacuzzi benefits. We checked out the next morning after a good nights sleep in an extremely comfy bed, packed the car and went for a tour around the area and down the canal, it was 21 degrees so it was a beautiful day. Upon deciding we wanted a drink we made our minds up that we would stay an extra night and this time, get the double deluxe room. The staff were extremely helpful yet again and it was the best decision ever. We spent the night in the jacuzzi watching the television in the wall next to it and loving the surround sound in the wet room.
It was an absolutely beautiful, I cannot wait to return!

My partner and I stayed here on Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. They do offer a deal but we decided to have a try at the deluxe executive suite. We were greeted by a nice reception lady who checked us in promptly and off we went. The room was average sized, clean and warm upon entering. I did however notice a decent sized black stain on the floor near the bed! The bathroom is a good size and nicely decorated, we had a spa bath with a TV. Now when we decided to use the bath it was a total disappointment. All was going well until we sat in the bath with the tv on, once in the bath the only way you can actually see the image on the tv properly is if you watch it through the glass shower screen or stand up in the bath because of the way it was angled, and secondly the noise that came from the spa was ridiculously loud!
We had a few drinks in the bar and could not decide where to eat. In the end we went to eat in the Italian. We were seated close to the next table who could hear our conversation as we could theirs! We ordered, and our food arrived in what felt like 2 mins. The meal was nice and you certainly got plenty.
In the morning we decided to try the breakfast, this was nice.
We enjoyed a walk along the canal and to the local garden centre.
My advice, if fix the spa bath problems in room 32. We'd definitely give it a go again! Its a nice place with a good atmosphere and stunning views, with plentiful choices of food. Overall we had a lovely stay here.

Have been going here for years yet never stayed. Decided to do the Sunday saver and stay over. Was met by an abrupt receptionist, but she was busy. Room was fine, old and needing work, lots of damp and never ending toilet running, but it is what is to be expected with an old building. It was clean and spacious and the view was lovely. We had a bottle of wine in the restaurant side of the bar and the staff, think they were Italian, were exceptional. We decided not to eat in the restaurant as found it too pricey and went into the bar side. This is when the standards slipped. The young bar staff were uninterested. I asked for mulled wine as there was a sign for it, and the young blonde waitress said they may have some from yesterday on the side in the back! Not good. They weren't interested in serving us drinks, and talked amongst themselves even when they did serve us. It has been my only bug bear with the hotel for years. The bar staff in the busy part are rude and have a terrible attitude. Go to the other side and the staff are superb! They need training. The glasses are also filthy. Anyway despite this, the food we had was very nice and our young male waiter was lovely and polite. Over all, I wanted the room to be better, without a 10cm gap on the door to outside, and just generally wanted to feel welcomed. I wouldn't go again. Maybe for a meal in the restaurant, but not in the bar or stay at the hotel.

We had been warned by friends before our arrival not to go...to our detriment we ignored their advise!

The food was incredibly average, the hotel decoration dated and poorly appointed and the hotel manager was a rare combination of both rude and incompetent!

I cannot stress how poor our overall experience was. I was forced into rating this establishment a score of '1', purely due to the fact that '0' wasn't available!

I stayed here on 23rd March with my partner. We booked an executive room which had a whirlpool bath. The room was very dated, some of the furniture was damaged and cracked and carpet was worn out all was in need of a refresh. I am not complaining as I didn’t expect all mod cons for the price of the room, in the past we have paid a lot more for a lot better so it is within what I’d expect for the price. The bath and bedroom are open plan so if you want privacy i wouldn’t recommend this room.
The date we stayed it was bitterly cold, we had planned to go for a walk down the canal as the surroundings are lovely instead we went to the bar for some drinks before we ate at the restaurants. Both the bar and restaurant were very busy, it was a nice atmosphere. Food was very nice and service was very fast.
We were back in the room after the meal and used the Jacuzzi bath with a bottle of bubbly that we’d prebooked. Was relaxing and I had a pleasant sleep, but my boyfriend heard a few people coming back to the rooms late in the night and when I woke up in the night a neighbour had a TV on till the early hours but you cant know if this will happen on another stay… Overall it was a nice stay, its not your usual standard hotel room they are quite quirky.

We stayed here recently as a short break from the madness of work.

Unfortunately, we didn't book ahead, and room we wanted, a deluxe executive, was unavailable.

We were allocated an executive room, and asked to see it before booking. It was lovely, and obviously recently renovated.

The staff here are nice, even if the lady in the restaurant is a little brisk in her manner.

The surroundings are fantastic, with the canal and the bar with the log fire.

There are good deals to be had, including the 50/50 restaurant deal that we took advantage of. As long as you spend over £12.50 per head, the hotel pays half of your food bill.
The food was lovely.

We will be back here in June, and have already booked the room we want to avoid disappointment.

Room Tip: Book early, and ask to see them first.
