I came down for a scuba-diving course at the school located directly across the road from this pub and stayed here on the Saturday night. It is an extremely convenient place to stay if you're visiting the scuba school because it's about 30 seconds walk away.

The pub is very homely and traditional. It's not a super-slick, soulless modern hotel, so this isn't the place if you're looking for something like that. It is a traditional English pub with local guests and is family run. The owners have a friendly dog, which goes around greeting everyone in the pub.

I got a twin room (room 1) and it was clean and spacious and had a huge bathroom with a bath and a shower attachment on the tap (although nowhere to hang the shower head). I ate dinner in the pub on the Saturday night (very nice) then slept very peacefully. Other people have commented on the planes (this place is near Gatwick) but I didn't notice them at all.

The breakfast was very nice and is cooked by the chef whenever you're ready in the in the morning. For a small charge he also agreed to make a sandwich for me to take to the scuba school, as the scuba school doesn't have a lunch break (you just eat whenever you're hungry whilst watching the learning videos).

The staff were very friendly.

We stay for two night whilst visiting relatives. Lawrence, Ellie and all the staff made us very welcome. Homely, recently decorated rooms, nice comfortable beds and nice and warm which was great as it was soo cold outside in February.
The chef would come in when requested to make our lovely full English breakfast other meals we had were also very good.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends.

Unfailingly helpful staff make this pub what it is. I stayed for a night during a diving course at the scuba school opposite. Perhaps a little rough around the edges, but perfect for our needs. Well put together burgers, good range of beers, and decent room with space for a camp bed. There was a birthday function on the night we were staying, with a band booked until the small hours, but the owners warned us about this before we booked. Good customer service all round.

My girlfriend and I did a weekend at London Scuba and stayed here, which could not be a more perfect location for the scuba center. We had room 5 which was in the back so no traffic noise and didn't really hear the planes but if you're a light sleeper you may hear them. Obviously this is not the pub's fault and anywhere you stay in the area will have this. We were having an active weekend away so treated ourselves to the King room which was nice and clean, big bed and bathroom, only downside was no door on bathroom. Massive rainfall shower was amazing after a long day in scuba gear though. Towels and sheet very nice and the food, as others have mentioned, was very good. Breakfast is included in the price as well. Overall very quaint friendly pub atmosphere but not really destination spot unless going to Gatwick or Scuba.

Room Tip: Room 5 King size, in back so quieter, but no bathroom door

We stayed here last weekend, as we were doing a diving course at London Scuba (which is just opposite and very convenient for us). They are very nice and friendly. The room was basic but spacious and clean. The bathroom was also big with lots of natural light though it only had a bath, no shower.
Everyone seems to know everyone in the pub. The food was nice, lovely burgers, pies and bangers and mash. Breakfast was also good.
Beds were comfortable but it was a bit noisy with music in the pub one night and the planes flying to/from Gatwick woke us up a couple of times.

All in all they were very friendly, which made our stay a lot nicer, the food was good and the room was basic but very clean.

The pub has plenty of potential but needs a lick of paint and a bit of elbow grease - has the feel of a managed pub. Food fine, decent value, but not top notch
