I have been to the British Wildlife Centre several times now and it is always such a delight. It is a great day out with fun for all the family. My recent visit was great because the Scottish WIld Cats had been joined by some new arrivals. It is a great shame that so many of our nations species are dying out and places like the British Wildlife Centre need to be celebrated. It's definitely worth a visit, if not just to see the Red Squirrels enclosure.

Small wildlife center, good talks throughout the day, and squirrels and red deer were best exhibits. Overpriced at 33 for family as no play areas or activities for kids. Probably wrong time of year to go as found most animals hiding and not much to see.

On arrival I thought the centre was quite small however we arrived at 1000 and departed just after 1500 after the owl display. The centre is great for kids as you get up close to the animals, one of my kids had a red squirrel jump on them .....

Before going you need to check that it is open to the public, once there, there is a programme of talks on each animal as you go round.....don't forget your camera !!

The British Wildlife Centre feels like a bit of a hidden gem, we visited for the first time last weekend and had an amazing time. The animals all look very healthy and happy and the enclosures are a fantastic size, if you go expecting a zoo full of exotic animals you will be disappointed but if you want to see some iconic British Wildlife being well looked after you will love it.

It was worth the entrance fee purely to see red squirrels again (they disappeared from where I grew up at the end of the 90s) and one got so excited to see us it was running all over us and even went up our jackets - this was the first time my husband had seen a red squirrel, what an introduction!

The centre has now closed until 2014 but I am sure we will now be frequent visitors. There is ample parking, a basic but nice café and a cute little gift shop. All in all a fantastic day out.
