“Swimming with dolphin suspended for renovation”
Review of Oasis Sea World

Oasis Sea World
Reviewed 24 July 2011

I had an exchange with people from http://www.swimwithdolphinsthailand.com/ and it seems the swimming-pool to swim with dolphins is in renovation.

>>>
thank You for Your mail. Unfortunately we still don't have the re-opening date nor the new prices from the OASIS SEA WORLD. According to the latest information's the swimming with the dolphins will not be resumed till later this year. The reason is a delay in the construction of the new pool, where, according to the OASIS, the swimming with the dolphins will take place in the future. This will help to give more room for the already successful breeding program and will avoid stress of dolphins which have young ones or are pregnant.
As soon we do receive the re-opening date and the new prices we will inform You and we do hope it will be sometime soon.

Yes the official site is http://www.oasisseaworld.net/ but has not been maintained or used for years, we are taking care for on-line bookings for the OASIS since three Years now, because of that. Usually it is necessary to book at least 1-2 weeks in advance, as You may can imagine the swimming with the dolphins is very popular.
The cheapest way to travel to Chanthaburi is by bus (~200.-- THB per person, one way). It takes about 4-5 hours and then get a taxi (Songthaeu) at the bus-station (~300.-- THB one way for up to 4 persons).

This is no international 'OceanWorld' etc, but a low-key and enjoyable place to see dolphins and learn a little about the local coast area; these dolphins are one that were caught accidentally and brought here to recover from injuries, some are kept here only till they are ok then re-released, others stay as 'performers'
The main show at about 45min is long enough - but children loved it, and there is the opportunity to swim with the dolpins in another huge pool - and it is huge, maybe 80mx80m.
Check before you go as the 'swim with dolphins' option is not always available

We went to Oasis Sea World in June 2009 as it has always been my dream to swim with dolphins and after studying their website i thought that it was what i wanted.

It turned out to be an amazing experience!!!

We first visited a dolphin show which lasted for about half hour and then were taken to this "swimming pool" - it is like a fenced off bay with natural sea water. And this is where fun begun!

We spent one hour swimming, feeding, padding, playing, kissing and hugging with dolphins and this was so so awesome! Definitely a highlight of the trip!

I would recommend everyone to do it... not only people with kids, but adults will also enjoy it a lot... this was just so sweet :o)
