“Wonderful stay, even during troubled times”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

My boyfriend and I spent the last week and a half in Chiang Mai at this great little bnb. We loved Dreamcatchers. We had the blue room, on the ground level, with our own private balcony over looking the canal. The room was great, especially the fact that the showers and toilet were separated. Annabel was not there for the entire time that we stayed at Dreamcatchers, but her staff are just as helpful and sweet and we had no problems. The breakfast was delicious - homemade yogurt and museli and great omelettes.

We were a little freaked out when the coup occurred - we had e-mailed Annabel before coming to inquire about the safety of the protests and such and she reassured us that everything was fine in Chiangmai and that as long as we didn't attend the protests themselves, everything would be fine. When the coup occurred, she made sure to contact us to make sure we were okay and help explain the situation to us. She convinced us to remain for the rest of the trip and it worked great. Even though with the coup there was a curfew, we were able to do all of our daytime activities as normal and we had a lovely, lovely time. We felt very safe and welcome at Dreamcatchers.

Room Tip: We had the blue room and it was great! We wish though we had taken the deluxe suite on the second fl...

We stayed at this wonderful B&B after reading only good reviews on Tripadvisor.

Room
We stayed in the room directly facing the swimming pool. It was perfect for us who love swimming. Since it was the hottest time of the year, we took advantage and jumped into the pool as many times a day as we could. The room is spacious, and we loved the lounge area in the room. The housekeeping made the bed everyday. There is no safe in the room, and the room key is not provided. I, being always nervous about losing passports and cash while travelling, felt challenged. When the owner Annabel said "you don't really need the key, don't you? It's safe here." I felt a relief. It was a message that you can trust the staff, other guests, and the neighbourhood.

Facility
The property has its best time in the past, but that gives you rather a relaxed homey feeling. It gives you a feeling as if you are an expat living in the suburb of Chiang Mai. At the entrance hall, there are a cluster of sofas and coffee tables. We read books and browsed the Internet in the evening while Annabel worked on reservations next to us. We enjoyed exchanging occasional conversations with Annabel across the room. There are two friendly dogs who love being patted. They were quite patient with my daughter who always wanted to play with them. There are indoor and outdoor dining area. We sat outside to enjoy the weather for breakfast and dinner.

Location
The B&B is located outside the city of Chiang Mai. It is hard to find and explain to the non-english-speaking Thai driver, so we only used the taxi drivers recommended by Annabel. We took a taxi for 250 baht each way to access the city center. Once we hired a taxi driver to go sightseeing at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and waterfall. He not only took us to the temple but explained a lot about the area, its history and his becoming a monk as a child. Instead of taking us to the touristy waterfall filled with Farangs (foreigners), he took us to the quieter yet beautiful waterfall where the locals have a picnic with friends and families.

Food
We must have been a difficult guest since my husband was vegan. For breakfast there is a wide range of food like pancakes, eggs, muesli, and hams available. We especially enjoyed the seasonal fruits like mango and pineapple. I personally loved Annabel's homemade yoghurt with maple syrup. For dinner Annabel and her staff Khun Won made special menu to accommodate us. Annabel made a children's portion of chicken wings and salad for my daughter, and Khun Won cooked a creamy and spicy vegetable curry for my husband. One night we enjoyed dinner with other guests and played cards before and after meal.

Staff
What makes so special about this B&B are Annabel and her staff. They are very friendly and have eyes for details. Once I told Khun Won about a certain kind of Thai flower I like. Next day she comes to work with two lei of those flowers for me and my daughter. We did not have much plans in Chiang Mai, but Annabel suggested us so many things to do. Her honest opinions through her experiences were exactly what we were looking for.

Thank you very much for making us feel at home at your wonderful B&B. We send our best regards to your staff, Khun Won and Khun Somchai.

This year for the fourth time we stayed with Annabelle and her very friendly and helpfull staff. You can choose what you would like to do: stay at the nice swimmingpool or Annabelle will help you finding a nice excursion.
She has 4 very nice large rooms ( really good beds), an excellent breakfast with homemade products like yoghurt and the lovely pancakes.
Diner is also very good, nice Thai food or western whatever you want. We loved the Thai food, especially the fish that I had.
We will be back for sure for the fifth time.it was wonderfull again, thank you Annabelle

Room Tip: All four rooms are very nice

Dear Sandra, Koen,

A bit late to thank you for your lovely review but as they say ...better late than never...! You are my second customers who have stayed here every year for 4 consecutive years and it is such a nice feeling. Hope the rest of your trip was restful and relaxing, Strangely enough a young French couple made their 4th visit here this year and also went onto Bali from here...
See you next year I hope...!!

Our family traveled to Thailand over Christmas for a vacation of a lifetime. During our trip, we spent 5 lovely days at Dreamcatchers where we were treated like family. Our family of 5 fit nicely in the Junior suite and it was great to be able to let our children have a little freedom to walk around the property and relax by the pool. We were there on Christmas day and Annabel even arranged for a Christmas dinner complete with turkey and dressing. There were even presents under the tree from Santa Claus! Annabel and her staff were gracious and kind and the food was delicious! I definitely recommend Dreamcatchers to anyone traveling to Chiang Mai.

We stayed here in January 2014 and had a really wonderful time. The location was perfect for us; it is outside of the city but close enough that a taxi is not to expensive to head into town for the day or evening. The setting is beautiful and you can head out on foot or by bike around the nearby villages. The accommodation is clean and finished to a high standard; our room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. Annabel was even so kind as to post on some items that we had forgotten in our room, which was really going the extra mile for us. We were very grateful.
