“Great escape”

Rain or shine, this is a perfect getaway for some peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. Ali and Greg are warm and welcoming hosts (and fab cooks!), we instantly felt at home here. There was also plenty of activity going on in the surrounding villages if we wanted to be a little busier. I can't wait to visit again in the summer.

You can't get better than this for somewhere to escape and wind down!
Gorgeous decor, gorgeous property and was so perfect to de-stress in the tranquil scenery. We had all the privacy we wanted and the amazing hosts Ali & Greg were SO welcoming & helpful. Loved exploring the area & feel totally rejuvenated - can't think of a better holiday.

“Stunning House and Idyllic Location”
Reviewed 3 January 2018 for a stay in December 2017

Close to Bergerac airport and set in acres of beautiful countryside, this stay met all our expectations. Comfortable beds, modern conveniences and great breakfast. Ali and Greg were charming and attentive hosts. We'll definitely put this stay on our future short get-away list.

“Cosy, quiet, eclectic in a stunning country setting”

After a busy few days exploring Bordeaux, La Frêne was the most perfect place for us to slow down. The hamlet setting is amazing and their home is an old farmhouse that feels as if it’s in the middle of nowhere but is actually close to other villages and less than two hours from Bordeaux! We just loved it.

First the practical stuff: excellent wifi, firm comfie beds with huge fluffy duvets and beautiful linen; spacious bathroom with big shower and fantastic water pressure. Our room was in a totally private upstairs “wing” - beautifully decorated and very cosy and quiet; breakfast was copious and my husband’s “medium soft egg, please” was perfect!

All the little extras: really friendly hosts - you’re staying in a home but with all the privacy and comfort of a hotel. We ate with the family in the evenings and were so happy we did - Ali and Greg (and their daughter Alex!) love cooking and it showed. The food was five star - delicious flavours and there’s nothing quite like home grown veggies and morning fresh eggs.

There are lots of room options so you can choose to be private for a romantic getaway à deux, or book out more rooms for a holiday with friends/ big family!

“The perfect hideaway”

We spent 4 days here in October and really didn't want to leave! The gite is perfect. It has been very sympathetically renovated to an extremely high standard. It is very stylishly decorated whilst also being really comfortable. The modern kitchen with induction hob is brilliantly stocked. The bed has wonderful pillows and linen. When we arrived our hosts, Ali and Greg had left us some goodies in the kitchen which was really thoughtful. They are on hand to help with any problems or give you ideas of what to do and see in the area, but are totally discrete. It's a great area of France that has so much to offer and the gite is only 20 minutes or so from Bergerac airport. We will be back!

“A piece of paradise”

My daughter and I spent a week at La Maure in August. Ali and Greg were very welcoming and attentive hosts. Our double room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with very comfy beds.

We found Campsegret to be ideally situated for exploring the historical and interesting villages in the area. We also spent a very entertaining afternoon trying to canoe in a straight line on La Vénère, from La Roque St Christophe to Les Eyzies. On our less energetic days, we either cooled off in the pool and sunbathed or strolled through the countryside.

We had some delicious and memorable meals at chez Burke. All the vegetables were picked fresh from Greg’s potager and our breakfast eggs were from their hens. I've since become an organic convert but I've yet to find a more bountiful market as the one in Bergerac.

Thank you Ali and Greg for sharing your very special piece of paradise. We're already planning our return.

Absolutely loved every moment of our stay. Beautiful home in a stunning area of Bergerac. La Maure has been beautiful decorated and the gite has everything you would need.

We had great weather during our stay so spent most of our time by the pool. We went on a few day excursions, kayaking down the Vézère is a must!

Fresh veg, fresh eggs, great wine, best breakfast...please take me back!
