“As good as usual”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

Had lunch here on our last day before returning home to UK. Place was packed with both locals and non locals. We have eaten here many times over the years and it never fails. The menu is traditional rustic fare. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I asked for a particular dish for my main, canard gourmandise, not quite realising what that would be. Waiter (I think the owner) raised an eyebrow and explained it was duck's hearts I was ordering as if, really? I took his advice and ordered the magret instead. Just try taking it easy with the lovely soup if you hope to get through all the courses!

“Rustic French Charm....best potatoes ever!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

Just back to our villa after dinner here for the evening. We wanted to book somewhere close to the airport at Bergerac after dropping our friends their for their flight. And we were very very pleased. The grape pickers soup is fantastic. Delicious. (Could have just carried on eating the soup all night). Starter of Fois Gras in Figs and honey really tasty. The ChateauBriand Steak was gorgeous but none of this compared to simply the most tastiest potatoes I have ever had. Sautéed in garlic. I can still taste them... They are so good. I did comment to everyone on our table that if they brought us out more potatoes I would do a trip advisor report and they did. So here it is. Profiteroles were great too.... Totally recommend this restaurant to all... So yummy and good and reasonably priced. The owner also impressed as he genuinely seemed concerned that everyone was enjoying their meals. Any English staying in the area need to try this quality french restaurant. Let's face it, the french are the best chefs in the world. Totally.

“Timeless French delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

Haven't been for about 3 years but the food and service are still excellent, superb food in a beautiful setting. What the Grappe d'Or does best is serve very good French regional cooking with style in a delightful, relaxed manner at a price you can't believe. Good food and wine, always full (a good sign is that the clientele is mainly French) and cheery, friendly staff, what more could one want.

I first had lunch at this delightful restaurant somewhere around 1990 when my parents lived in the area, little has changed in the intervening years, its still excellent food and still remarkable value.

“Exceptional €27 menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

La Grappe d'Or will give you a more than fulfilling meal at a very reasonable price. The €27 menu will more than fulfil even the hungriest diner, and at a quality that isn't fine dining but is very good local-style cuisine. I would suggest that you hang back on the soup, which is provided in copious quantity, and, whilst delicious, will fill you up for the delights to come. There are plenty of unusual things on the menu, that are both extremely tasty and in adequate portion, but there is also plenty of more staple items for the area, such as Chateaux Briand with foie gras which was absolutely delicious. The wine list featured plenty of classy local wines and the whole thing was served in an extremely efficient and friendly way. Two things which detract from the Grappe d'Or are its location, close to the D933, and its toilets which could do with a make-over. Having said that it provides great food at a good price in friendly surroundings. Including wine we came out for a very good, long, lunch at around €45 a head.

“Super value and quality lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

The food on the 27 euro menu was excellent. My starter of baby rabbit was succulent and very tasty, the main course of Chateaubriand for 1 was superb, the dessert very good. Overall there was a lot of food for the lunch time - which we walked off in nearby Bergerac. The local wines from Bergerac La Jaubertie were great - both the white and red.

Service was friendly and helpful. The patron charming.

The only slight disappointment was that there is not much of a view from the terrace
