Extremely well equipted kitchen and good quality furnishings thought. A superb welcome hamper. Great location for peace and quiet, with lovely views from the terrace and spa pool. Thoroughly recommended.

“Spotless , comfortable property.”

Just returned from an early season(second)visit to Les Chauprenades. Given a friends offer of acting as co-driver on a return tourist trip ( Toulouse to the UK ) what better rendezvous than Bergerac and Les Chauprenades. Flight Birmingham to Bergerac and picked up by proprietor Brian at the airport. Delightful few days waiting for my transport to arrive. Weather was excellent for this time of year - cooler but lots of sunshine. Without a car at this point was pleased to accept Brian's offer to drive me to a local vineyard to replenish the wine Cellar ). Since my previous visit the owners have completed an East (Breakfast ?) patio = sun all day. Altogether first-class , as last time.

We spent 2 weeks here in March, chosen on the strength of the reviews we'd read and Les Chauprenades more than lived up to its billing.

We were greeted by Brian and Hilary on arrival shown to the gite which is a converted barn in the extensive grounds of their house. It's completely private with the two terraces facing away from the main house. One terrace is a fantastic sun trap and has a table and chairs for breakfasting etc, along with a garden bench. The second larger terrace has the hot tub, a table and chairs for dining, sun loungers, and comfy reclining chairs plus a bar-b-que.

Inside there is loads of space with an open plan living room/kitchen/dining area which is cleverly designed to be 3 distinct areas but optimising the space available. The bathroom is also on the ground floor with wet room open style shower. plus toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.

Upstairs the bedroom is on the mezzanine level.

There are lots of nice things about the property but one thing was that everything had been designed and provided with comfort in mind. The bed, settee, chairs etc were all comfortable. All the linens were good quality cotton. The kitchen was very well equipped with crockery, glasses, casseroles etc. There were lots of thoughtful touches too such as washing powder and conditioner, foil, bin bags.

There is pretty planting around the gite. We were there just as the blossom was appearing on the fruit trees in the large meadow. The meadow is fenced in and meant that Buddy our dog could run free. He was often joined by his new chum Lily, Brian and Hilary's dog.

Our hosts got it just right. They were on hand if we needed them but not intrusive, they were happy to share their knowledge on the best places to visit.

The property is in a tiny hamlet close to Ribagnac. The location is ideal being 15 mins to Bergerac and very close to many of the well known villages and vineyards.

The welcome pack was really useful and we took advantage of Hilary's cooking on the first night providing a welcome meal on arrival. We had asked Brian and Hilary to recommend somewhere relatively close by where we could celebrate David's 70 birthday with a special meal, but could also take the dog. They suggested 3 places, and we opted for Le Bruceliere in Issiseac 15 mins away. Brian taxied us there and back so we could both have a drink. Heaven!

Brian and Hilary have worked hard to make this a good place to stay with a warm welcome. They are concerned that their guests have a good experience and it shows.

We can (already have!) recommended this to others.
