“Peace and Plenty”

What a wonderful place. We had a great time, and can only agree with previous reviews.
The home is lovely, peaceful, clean and charming, and the meal was huge and delicious (Thank you Joyce).
It really is a pleasant place to stay.

Rex, Joyce and Peter have a fantastic property and are extremely welcoming hosts! We had a wonderful 2 nights staying in the Fantail room which has french doors opening out onto the deck overlooking the perfectly maintained gardens. We would highly recommend Tui Lodge to anyone heading up the East Cape.

Thank you Rex, Joyce and Peter - no doubt we will be back sometime!

An Oasis set amongst tropical gardens. Yes bananas are grown here.
Upon opening the car door, meeting Joyce and Rex, we felt so relaxed after a long trip around the East Cape. With short notice we were invited to join Joyce and Rex for a barbeque for dinner. The quite lulled us to sleep in a comfy bed with ensuite. Next morning awakening to bird song we were offered a monster breakfast. If we venture back this way again it is a must stop off. Highly recommended

A fantastic place to stay on the East Cape, whether passing through or spending time at Te Kaha. Rex, Joyce and Peter are wonderful hosts. Great rooms. Large gardens. Excellent views out to the ocean. Rex cooks a mean breakfast and Joyce does a mean dinner. Highly recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights over the Easter weekend. Rex and Joyce are really good hosts. We had the upstairs room which was essentially 2 bedrooms with a living area. Breakfast was amazingly yummy and was the dinner.

If we ever come back this was, we are sure to stay with them again.

Pulled up, Rex popped out and said you must be Gordon & Kay, that's a first.

We'd only got the bags in the room a few minutes when afternoon tea appeared outside our room on the deck. A couple of hours later and we were offered a glass of wine, then shortly after dinner was served. This was Snapper & Gurnard caught by Rex the day before and delicious as only fresh fish can be.

Next day after a hearty breakfast we went on a Horse trek in the hills behind Te Kaha with Selwyn, a local Maori guide organised by Rex, and had a lovely day out.

More drinks on the deck, followed by another home cooked and tasty meal punctuated by a couple or three of Rex's yarns, rounded out a perfect day.

I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a taste of the real New Zealand. It's like staying with a family friend who has a very nice house in a superb setting.

This is NZ hospitality at it's best, laid back and easy going. Kay & I both loved it.
