Around 80 people live in Regéc, Hungary. It´s some kind of a very original, remote hungarian village, with traditional farm houses and the feel of 30 years ago.
The only place, along with another small pension at the beginning of the village (whether it´s running or not), where You can sleep is Veronika. The obligatory visit to the middle age castle high above the village can be combined with extensive walking tours in the surrounding Zemplén mountains.
Veronika Panzió consists of two guest houses, a common breakfast room, ard. 15 rooms, a small swimming pool, a mini golf track, 4 grilling stations, a bar and an extensive garden area. All in all, You feel like in a nicely made up family hotel, though it´s a guest house.
On demand, You can get a very good breakfast or in need of a fresh bread, there´ll be a bakery car visiting the village three times a week. They have a common use fridge so You can keep Your Supermarket food there (next supermarket is in Encs, approx. 15km away.
The people working there really do everything to make Your stay comfortable and they answered all our questions very exact.
We liked our room pretty much, all amenities were there except of Wi-Fi, but that´s not the thing the review should be about. Especially the shower was spacious and even a large person is fitting well in it! The only thing we didn´t like was the noise from the staircase which we could hear very clear (e.g. when sb. walked up or down).
All in all, a very affordable, friendly and beautifully surrounded place very off the spot in the middle of a mountaineous region.
