“Relaxing Holiday”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

We stayed in the Jasmine suite ,for a week in early August, which was large and comfortable overlooking the water and great in the mornings and going down of the sun.. At first we had problems with the toilet leaking and some of the bathroom lights were not working and to the credit of Megan she had them fixed. We found Megan most helpful and would go out of her way to please people. The meals were average and the staff very friendly and in some cases the service was very slow but this is island way. The beach was terrific when the tide was in and snorkling certainly made this resort to stay at.Considered the prices for meals and drinks reasonable. If you did not have transport you are resort bound but when you are in a relaxing mode you dont wont to go far. Enjoyed the stay at Stevensons and hope the new Manager replacing Megan will be good and gives the same service

We only had a dinner here but it was a bit of a let down. The place does look nice and grounds seemed pretty well kept.

To start with we ordered coconuts upon the manager saying they Are ice cold, they came out warm and when we complained was made to feel like we are dumb.

The food ordered was ok. But maybe just the look of the place gives it higher expectations. So I would say if you. One here not expecting much you may leave more satisfied.

Hi,

I am very sorry to read that your high expectations of Stevensons were not met with your dining experience, but it is great that you liked the hotel gardens. Our guests that stay at least one night and get to experience the hotel vibe, maybe seem to enjoy it more. Thank you for bringing to my attention that we may need to work on 'dining only' guests.

In regards to the coconuts, I didn't actually advertise the coconuts as being 'ice cold', I believe it was you who asked me if they were cold, but obviously they had not been in the fridge as long as i had expected. In which case, if they were delivered to you warm, and I had of been made aware of this, I would have put them in ice for you, not made you feel dumb.

I would hope that if you were to return your view of Stevensons would be altered.

Regards,

Megan

What a peaceful relaxing place. Quite and so beautiful. Looking out of bed in the morning at coccnut palms and blue water was amazing. Staff so friendly and Megan was so helpful. Nothing was a problem for her. I enjoyed learning more about the Samoan way of life.
We will be back!
Cheers
Chris

From the time we arrived at Stevensons to the time we left Megan worked hard to make sure our stay was a lovely one. We upgraded to a villa because we wanted air conditioning. This was no problem to Megan. We stayed in the end villa - we felt like we had our own little piece of the beach. It was very private. The breakfasts, lunches and dinners were delicious. Thoroughly recommend the chicken salad in papaya.
We couldnt fault the service here and would go back anytime!

Room Tip: If you want air conditioning then a villa or suite is for you.

I admit to being a bit concerned after reading previous reviews of Stevenson's but gladly this was unfounded. We love Savai'i and the pace of life there (having visited once before) and we found a wonderful temporary home in one of Stevenson's villas for a week. Loved waking up each day to that awesome view in our spacious villa with a day full of relaxing, snorkelling and eating and drinking to look forward to. Bliss!
I guess holidays and accommodation are a personal choice and no one place will suit everyone but no complaints from us and just hope someday we can return and have a holiday as wonderful as this one.

Hi,

You are exactly right, a holiday is what you make it! Coming to Samoa with the right attitude and to embrace the local culture definitely enhances the experience.

I am very happy you enjoyed you stay, and felt at home at Stevensons!

Thanks!

Coming to Savai'i was like always, a well planned trip for a typical European family. We had booked one suite and two Eurofales at Stevenson. After a long drive, to see blowholes, we finally arrived in hotel. We were very welcomed and enjoyed the beauty and tranquility at beach bar. We asked if possible to switch rooms as we preferred suites or villas to fales, probably it is the lack of privacy that makes it not so appealing for us but our Australian friends loved it. The villas are very nice and the food is perfect. I would definitely come back!

We had booked into a Euro fale but realised this wasn't suitable for 2 adults, one child and a baby because it was too small and the mosquitoes were terrible. The manager, Megan was very accommodating and arranged for us to change to a suite which was fantastic. Our new room was huge and had both air conditioning and fans. The breakfast buffet included fresh fruit, toast and crepes. The service can be a bit slow but is very friendly. We did a village tour with one of the hotel staff which was interesting and babysitting was no trouble. All rooms are located right on the water and both the beach and the reef here are beautiful. It's a great place for a laid back, family beach holiday.
