“Lovely little inn”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Not a hotel and it doesn't pretend to be one. But it's a lovely country inn with friendly and helpful owners and good pub food. It has 4 small but comfortable rooms at the back with free wi-fi. Only a few miles from Buxton it is in the middle of beautiful countryside at the end of the village with great views from the pub garden. Excellent walking country.

Room Tip: They're much the same.

We enjoyed a brilliant overnight stay. The early check in was great, Lovely spotlessly clean rooms which were very well equipped & quiet. We had a very nice meal which was obviously home cooked & very reasonably priced, along with good beer!! The location is perfect as we were able to forget about the car & do a circular walk from the pub, the surrounding countryside is just gorgeous. The landlord & staff couldn't have been more welcoming & accommodating. Will be definitely visiting again!

This welcoming village pub/eatery offers great food at great prices (mains from £8) and a huge range of ales. But the owners and staff are the treasures of this place. Fun, friendly and it seems nothing is too much for them. We lost the keys to our cottage so they took us in even though they hadn't opened yet, gave us a drink and offered us their phone to sort things out! They made our dog feel at home to. Thanks especially to Sam and Justin. X We will be back. (Free wifi plus quiz on Monday nights)

Our second weekend at The Church Inn was no disappointment despite our high expectations from last year's visit.

Fantastic setting with great accommodation food and drink. You can walk from the pub up the hill towards Taddington and get 360 degree views of the area

Thoroughly recommended and I'm sure we'll be going again.

Stayed at the church inn for 3 nights and had a good time. Very welcoming, nice food and the rooms although a bit small are lovely and clean. We slept like logs as our bed was so comfy.we didn't need to go out to eat as its a pub with a good restaurant which I would recommend for a short stay.

We were looking for some where as a base for a few days walking in the Peak District and couldn't have chosen better. Great walks start immediately from the pub. Rooms were well looked after and cosy, excellent English breakfast and friendly staff. We will be back

We are very lucky to live in such a stunning location, although don't always get the chance to explore it as much as we'd like so its always nice when our guests come back with stories and information about what they have explored and seen on their walks.
We'd be happy to welcome you back in the future!

We stayed as a couple for one night this week and found the accommodation here to be excellent. There were tea and coffee (and hot chocolate!) making facilities in the room with plenty of milk- we usually have to ask for extra but not on this occasion. The bed was comfy and there were basic, but very good quality, toiletries provided in the bathroom. There were plenty of towels and spare blankets etc already in the room. There was a good selection of information about the Inn itselts and also about the history of the locality which were interesting and informative, including some old photos of the village which we enjoyed browsing.

The owners were really friendly and were more than willing to set up a tab for our food and drinks in the evening which was helpful. We enjoyed the pub quiz and bingo (Monday nights) although be warned- you'll struggle to get a table it's so popular! The home-cooked specials were also very good and I noticed a wide selection of vegetarian options (before opting for a fruity lamb curry which was delicious!). Our breakfast (included in the room price) was very tasty and offered a good selection- I opted for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast while my partner went for the full English, including a Derbyshire oatcake which was a welcome change. There was also plentiful toast, preserves, juices, cereals, bananas and yoghurt to choose from prior to the cooked breakfast.

Overall, a very welcoming and well-organised place to stay.
