“We'll be back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

This trip was on the 'bucket list'. We had been planning this trip for months. We started with 3 couples and ended up with 2 couples. We were greeted by wonderfully warm people who it was obvious just wanted to make our stay as memorable as possible. The rooms are very rustic and comfortable, it was nearing the winter months, so was looking forward to a warm fire. The rooms were lovely and warm and stayed that way all night, once we stoked it before going to bed. "How's the serenity'. We woke to a white blanket of frost, but were warm and comfortable inside our cabins. Meals were great, very home made/pub meals, and the atmosphere was great. 2 big log fires burning in the pub. Went for walks in the evening and morning. We are coming back for a two night stay with books in the summer. Can't wait.

“One night stay”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

Was really looking forward to this trip,
the weather was awesome, arrived late afternoon
to be greeted by wonderfull surroundings,
and was told previous that the fires in the hut would be lit
and noticing no fire wood,
after a quick look around the back of the huts we found and cut our own firewood,
the meals were just average pub meals but ok,
we inquired about getting a cooked breakfast but they said Omeo 40k away
was the closest, so we decided that night for an early departure,
got up for a shower in the morning water was luke warm,
went to boil the kettle no gas, noticed water leaking from the fridge,
realised the gas had run out, noticed there were two gas bottles at rear of
the hut but they were both empty, the people who stayed next door also experienced the same,
went to the car park to leave and noticed a foul smell,,, the sewerage had over flowed which we had to walk around to get to our cars,
for $270 a night for 4 people in a hut????,
on a positive the beds were ok,,,lol

“Just Passing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

There really can be only pleasure from any visit to the Blue Duck. The setting is one from the box, absolutely magic. The atmosphere is rustic, terrific and welcoming. The only problem is that you wont want to leave. Great food in a mountain setting, fresh air and the sound of the gurgling stream really is a story book setting. Its out of the way and that is part of its beauty. We included our stop in a loop that we made from Bright to Falls Creek and then back over Mt Hotham, taking in a fantastic part of the High country and our heritage.

“Easter 2014”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

A beautiful part of the world, the cabins are basic but comfortable, the owners are trying really hard and are very friendly, however the restaurant menu needs an overhaul. Maybe add some meals with vegetables and less fried food.

Whilst in the make sure you go horse riding at http://www.horsetreks.com/

“Relaxing experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

Anglers Rest is a great place to relax. beside the river under the trees. The pub is rustic as is the accommodation, but met all our needs. The pub food was very good including the perfectly cooked steaks. Wine and beer prices were reasonable considering its location. The accommodation was clean and the bed comfortable. Lack of mobile phone communication for 2 days was a dream.
