stayed here just for the one night but will definitely return for longer. Room was large, bathroom even bigger, bed comfy. Agree with an earlier review about it being a bit cold though. Food was superb, both dinner and breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. great grounds and a great place to explore the local countryside.

Having visited mellington twice we must report that we have had brilliant service on both occasions. Would have no hesitation in recommending the place to anyone. We will more than likely be going there again. Its not cheap but then i think you do get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Didnt use the fitness centre or the pool,

Arrived at Mellington Hall for a romantic evening with my wife. The lighting in the hall and rooms were lightly dimmed, tea lights on the tables and red roses added to a lovely feel. Our meals were very good, the entertainment was great. We would have liked the tribute act for 'Michael Buble' to have done another stint but it all ended before 10pm. Also the fires were not kept stocked and many people complained that it was very cold in all areas. People were huddled around embers by the log burner where a few logs would have made such a difference and added some much needed warmth! We didn't stay for a nightcap for this reason.

My boyfriend and I came to stay here after seeing it advertised as a KGB deal, however when I rang to check they had the dates I wanted they honoured the deal with us and so we booked directly through them, as it was a special occasion we upgraded to one of the suites. The hotel is gorgeous and I loved how it was kept in the character it was originally built. It was especially nice to sit by the open fire which was lit all the time we were there and made it so warm and cosy. The views from the windows are beautiful and the surrounding landscape is gorgeous. We stayed in the Kerry suite which was lovely, the only fault was they had replaced the shower but hadn't put the hook on the wall to hold the shower head up with. Once we pointed this out to them they offered for us to change to another upgraded room however we declined this as we loved the room we were in, so they kindly gave us a key for a unoccupied room and we used the shower in there which we didn't mind doing at all. Unfortunately the shower head fell of in the other room so we had trouble using that but again a new shower head was placed on it for us as soon as we pointed it out, nothing was ever to much trouble. The bar area was lovely as was the dinning room. The staff were extremely helpful and made us feel at home. The food was to an excellent standard and we enjoyed the champagne cream tea too. We had the pleasure of waking up to a good few inches of snow and it made the place look even more magical. Walking around the grounds in the snow was gorgeous and we came across some lakes and waterfalls. My boyfriend took some beautiful panoramic pictures and the hotel were so pleased that we emailed them to them. On checking out they even gave us money off the upgrade due to the shower problem which was very kind of them as we were quite happy with using another shower but this shows how thoughtful they are. Just one word of advice if you go out at night get a night key as we didn't and we nearly got locked out but thankfully got the ladies attention and she let us in.

Stayed for one night, should have been two on a KGB deal. Weather was awful but the reception area was warm, but that was about the only area. Our room was freezing, even with the curtains closed and heating on it took until we left to be warm ish. Afternoon tea was average, evening meal was ok but my wife's belly pork was cremated. Red wine was has cold as our room!!! The young staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was ok. Maybe in the summer it would be better! Maybe not.

Had a weekend break with my partner. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we stayed in a room called long mynd, the room was clean and a great size although it did have a sign up saying 'this room is due to be refurbished 2014'... A little dated but fitted nice with the character of the building. The bathroom was beautiful, obviously just refurbished with large separate shower and bath. Breakfast consists of cereals, toast, fruit and choice of cooked.. It was very tasty. Dinner choices were good, my partner ordered pate but was disappointed with the bread, my goats cheese mushroom was yummy... The mains were ok, salmon a little dry and my partners steak was ok, nothing special. The hotel has a bar and a few nooks with beautiful real fires, very cosy.... All in all the stay was really good and I would stay again if we are ever in the area.

we stayed for 2 night's with dinner and breakfast 14th - 15th Dec with a great deal and was not disappointed.
on arrival Friday night the hotel was very busy with festive party bookings we only had to wait a couple of minutes to be shown to our room which was just what we expected nice and cosy very warm and when we woke in morning we had fantastic views of the surroundings.
we had breakfast sent up to the room which was very nice (especially the sausages)
when we turned the shower on the head was broke and water was spurting out of the pipe all over. we rang down to reception and they fetched a replacement in minutes.
my wife also forgot her hairbrush and the lady again fetched a comb up to the room.
after breakfast we decided to go for a walk and got some maps from reception and set off round the grounds, as some building work was going on improving the start of the trail to O.D.P we could no get our bearings to set off so we went back to reception to ask were the start was (not a good start for a 4 mile walk!) and the receptionist put her coat on and walked us round to the start of the trail which was very muddy (we had boots on) in her work shoes, very helpful.
we had a great walk round the grounds and there is a lot to see and all lengths of walks to suit everyone.
the food was great at the dinner had 2 courses starter and main then after we went into the bar for some drinks nice draft beers and my wife had the wine.
lovely log fire burning and all the Christmas decorations and massive tree.
all in all a great 2 night's would recommend to anyone.
