“Stunning location and wonderful stay”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

I have just returned from three days at Mellington. The hotel is beautiful with a stunning interior including a William Morris ceiling and spacious elegant rooms. The food was excellent and the staff warm, friendly and efficient. Missing it already!

We have just come back from a one night stay at Mellington Hall.

Location fantastic, room spacious with modern TV with USB facility, updated bathroom, bed wast too bad with plenty of clean towels, staff were friendly and accommodating, beautiful views and nice walks around the area including a local Vineyard tour. The long drive leading to Mellington Hall was very nice surrounded by fields with cows and sheep in them.

All in all I was happy with our stay however there were a few areas which if improved would have helped me score an excellent as opposed to very good.

Bad points...Upon checking into our room there was an half used toilet roll left for us to use (& only one) the soap dispenser was also half used and down to its last few squirts, the door constantly rocked backwards and forwards and banged with the wind (we had to wedge it shut) the catch on the door had broken so it couldn't be locked from the inside and the shower was warm at best - luckily we had a bath which had piping hot water. On the food side of things the food was very nice and a varied selection, staff were friendly however we had plates and cutlery missing from the tables (both breakfast and dinner) we had to steal them off the other tables as staff were few and far between.

The only other thing that was slightly annoying was checkin was 3pm and checkout was 11am...

Stayed here whilst walking Offa's Dyke. We turned up dirty and soaked at the end of a hard day's walking. Even though they had a posh wedding do on, they sorted us out a room at short notice. The staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was good and the breakfast was great. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: All their rooms are on their website.

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary here with a short break. The building was very impressive at the end of a long drive surrounded by glorious countryside. The welcome we received was warm and friendly and our room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Although it overlooked the caravan park there was no noise and we both appreciated the peacefullness of the location. We enjoyed the afternoon tea in the dining room and the breakfasts were first class. My husband was very impressed with the tasty sausages and I enjoyed the scrambled eggs. Two visits we made are highly recommended- the nearby Kerry Vale Vineyard where you can sample the wines and the Ironmonger's shop in Montgomery where you will be transported to a bygone age.

Lovely location, friendly staff and excellent meal. One of the nicest wedding venues I have been to,although we could not stay overnight, my friend is in a wheelchair and there are no ground floor rooms. (We stayed at nearby Oakleys Bed and Breakfast - highly recommend) the staff were helpful and really enjoyed it.
