“Great little place”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

We spent the night here as we were passing by around the trail and wanted to stop here for whale watching. This motel is small, only a half dozen rooms, but they are very clean and nice. Ours had a kitchenette with almost everything you would want to fix simple meals. The whole place is very friendly and relaxed and peaceful.

We went down to the wharf and bought some live crabs, which we cleaned in the ocean, then brought back to the room. The owners have a strict policy about cooking shellfish in the room, but they steamed ours for us out back of the motel.

The best thing by far, however, is the view! It was the best view we had on the entire trip. The sunset was perfect. We would definitely return here if we come back to NS.

Just a short drive off the beautiful Cabot Trail, you can experience an impeccable view. My boyfriend and I enjoyed dinner and wine on the picnic table as the sun set over the horizon. Accommodation was spacious, clean and included everything you needed to make food in the kitchen. We both really enjoyed the great hospitality from Melvin and Debbie!

As everyone else has commented, the location was fantastic. As for the room itself, I can only assume there have been some improvements since some of the earlier reviews. It was spotlessly clean, and the bed was comfy. The T.V. now have cable instead of the one channel mentioned earlier, and I stayed in room 5 (the furthest from the office) and the wifi was fine. There is now a takeaway hut 500m down the road providing simple stuff such as fish and chips and burgers, and there is a co-op 3K away to stock up should you require it. I can only endorse the fact that the owners are very friendly and helpful and also offer coffee and toast in the office in the mornings. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

After travelling from Pleasant Bay we were headed south and ran into a great kid, who said there is no way we could come this far and not go to Bay St Lawrence and Meat Cove, so we turned around and headed north. We booked here for the night and it truly was a great decision. We booked our room and it was a lovely old fashioned, kitchenette, everything we needed, clean, comfortable, every channel on the TV. After a spectacular drive to Meat Cove, we got take out dinner at the Hut, 2 min from the motel, and opened a bottle of wine on the picnic table and enjoyed the spectacular 270 degree view which is unparalleled. Watching the sunset and ocean to the right and overview of the town and surrounding hills and valleys, it truly was beautiful. We talked with Mel and heard great stories, about the town and the people. Mel serves a little morning tea/coffee toast and we had our own breakfast fixings. It is a beautiful place and having a great motel is a bonus. The trip to Meat Cove is simply breathtaking, with a great beach and rock face. Bring the picnic basket and enjoy the day

This is well worth a few minutes drive off the Cabot trail north to Bay St. Lawrence!! On the day we arrived it was foggy but the fog cleared to a clear evening. The folks here are quite nice and knowledgeable on the area. The room was clean and well stocked with a fridge stove and dishes. There are very few places that are open past 4pm so make sure to stock your cooler with food in Cape North.

We found this place by chance and what a wonderful surprise! Beautiful views, clean rooms and the owner was just as friendly and nice as they come! There is a beautiful beach nearby, easy access and not crowded. There is also a pier down the road and it is a rustic setting. We will definitely be back!

Truly a gem in one of the most beautiful places in the world. My wife stayed here a couple of years ago with her mother, loved it and brought me for a two night stay. The nicest, kindest owners I have ever met. Made us feel like family. Views that are worth a million dollars. I can't wait to come back. Not only for this wonderful little town, but to see the great friends I have made in Bay St. Lawrence.
