“Come into the Garden Maud”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

These private gardens are only open on certain days of the year so its best to check before setting out. The gardens here are such a delight that you have to view all, sometimes twice. They also have plants for sale which are good quality. In a side court yard there is a refreshment area for teas and cakes, I found the cakes a little overpriced. Just at the back of the refreshment area you will find a beautiful little church which is also open. Back into the gardens you can rest an take in the views on the terrace where Alfred Lord Tennyson is reputed to have written his famous line 'Come into the Garden Maud'.

“Glourious gardens”
Reviewed 12 August 2011

These private gardens are open on certain days of the year so always check. If you are lucky to find them open, you will find beautiful shrubs, herbaceous borders and a well stocked kitchen Plants for sale are cheap and good quality. If an open day, tea and cake will also be on sale - the lemon drizzle cake is to die for, and there is a beautiful small church, with a slumbering knight positioned against one wall. Walk along and rest awhile on the terrace where Alfred Lord Tennyson is reputed to have written the famous line 'Come into the garden Maud'. I don't know if she did, but they are definately well worth a visit.
