“Brilliant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 December 2013 via mobile

We visited as a family of 4 (kids 11 & 9). This was the best experience to really be in the middle of the rainforest. Bungalow was clean, roomy with comfy beds, insect nets, hot shower and good ceiling fan. The free walking trail was so much fun and a real adventure. Hosts Steve and Sally were friendly and very helpful. Steve was a great host behind his groovy bar where even the locals visit. Sally offered a good selection of great quality meals that were big servings, good price and tasted great. Kids were happy with the meals too. There is a big area where you sit for meals and a heap of games for entertainment if you just want to chill for the day with the rainforest noises. December was the start of the wet season so it was probably less busy than it is in peak season but the weather was actually perfect and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend December travel to the daintree.

Clean and comfortable in the middle of the Daintree Rainforest. Steve & Shelly are great hosts and I would highly recommend their on-site night walk as they are very knowledgeable and helpful of so many things. The cabins are clean and the ability to bring your own groceries in and use the community kitchen is very nice. I would highly recommend it and it is a great value.

Our stay at Crocodylus could not have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the sights and sounds of the rainforest right on our doorstep, Sally's wonderful and reasonably priced home-made food and all their tips and treats (real coffee, for instance). Highlight of our trip was the overnight kayaking tour to Snapper Island, everything was well prepared, guide Col was excellent and the experience to be just the three of us over night under a starry sky on a tropical island was simply exceptional. What more do you want on a holiday? We were able to snorkel at various places around the island (all camping and other equipment was provided) and we also discovered sea turtles from the "Telstra" rock where there is even mobile phone reception. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to experience the rainforest first hand.

Great place to stay for exploring the Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Super friendly and helpful owners. At night you hear all the sounds from the forest which starts literally next to your hut. The common area has BYO cooking facilities as well as the option to buy breakfast and a selection of dinners. There's also a great bar with a real espresso machine. A really unique experience that we will remember for a long time.

A nature escape, back to basics, in the thick of the Daintree Rainforest. Steve and Ally were terrific hosts. Ally lead the Rainforest night walk. Her passion and knowledge of the rainforest made us feel safe about the dangers that lurked there. Steve lead the sunrise kayak, a mix of the beautiful Cow Bay Beach, taxing kayaking activity, plentiful sea turtles, snorkelling and a buffet of fresh fruit. Both Steve and Ally were very knowledgeable about everything and willing to teach - it was an education as well as an experience.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a Jungle double room. Just a bed and a mosquito net and the fan above us. The sounds of the rainforest sending us to sleep.

A terrific stay in the thick of the rainforest a short drive from other wonderful places and activities (water holes, walks, ice cream, etc).

Kicking back at the bar and chatting with Steve and Ally was great. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. A dip the pool was a bonus, escaping the heat.

It did rain at times and there were not many other guests at this time of year. It didn't take away from our experience.

Absolutely loved this location - a bit far from Cape Trib, but def worth a few nights. We stayed in a double room/tent which was perfect, basic (I mean remember what you're paying!) just a bed/mosquito net, but the balcony into the rain forest was fantastic. The room was very open and had all the sounds of the rain forest which provided for a great experience =) The kitchen was adequate and we ate at the restaurant for the bbq on Sunday, which was good ($20 for food and 2 drinks!). It's very quite accommodation, nestled in the rain forest and if that interests you, Crocodylus is where you should stay!
