We had planned to stay at Crocodylus Village, but a cyclone caused enough damage there that we could not stay. However, we were able to take a lovely side trip - the overnight kayak paddle trek to snapper island. We got a sense of our hosts, who helped us set up from the trip and clean up after - and they were lovely! I'd have loved to stay. The trip to Snapper Island was magical. It is a stunning island, and we were able to snorkle in several spots, wander around the beaches, and enjoy the stars. We went with one other travelor, and the tour includes the guide making us a lovely dinner and breakfast, as well as lunches, and setting up tents for us all. I can't say enough good things about the experience - it was refreshing, fun, intriguing, beautiful, peaceful - and we were treated so wonderfully! It was just a great experience. If you have the chance, like to kayak and snorkle, this is a great change from the more crowded experiences on the reef.

This is a great way to truly appreciate a taste of sleeping in the rainforest. The showers are not great but you have to adjust to a different style of accommodation. The host are nice and helpful, the common kitchen fairly efficient and the surrounding activities a lot of fun.

I was in Crocodylus Village eight years ago and it had the same atmosphere. It is cheap and the tents are large andcan accommodate 8 persons in one room. The toilet and bathroom are separate and made of wood. I stayed there this year with my daughter and son and enjoyed the hospitallity of thereception, bar and restaurant. At night we booked a guided tour in the rain forest. This was well organised and with very skilled guide.

We wanted our kids to experience the rainforest and Crocodylus was the perfect place. Hosts Steve and Sally were extremely welcoming and friendly, always greeting us by name. Everything was very easy and relaxed. We self catered breakfast, but opted for the Sunday BBQ dinner the first night and between the five of us, tried 5 different delicious meals from the menu the next night (our 14 y.o. daughter was very happy with the vegetarian options). The huts are basic and comfortable, with mosquito nets over each bed. We lay in bed listening to the sounds of the rainforest, then awoke to the sun filtering through the leafy canopy. We read and played board games in the evening, a welcome break from electronic games and entertainment. We loved our stay at Crocodylus and would recommend it as a beautiful, family friendly place to stay.

I read their Web site and thought that sounds just like a place we would like to stay and It was exactly as I expected. Sleeping in the rainforest, friendly staff, no wi-fi and self catering was easy. Their dinner and breakfast menu was great value. $15 for a full plate.
Recommend to independent traveller, you definitely need a car to get around.

This was the second time we stayed at Crocodylus Village. Both times we stayed two nights, as always our stay was fantastic. The staff are always helpful and welcoming. The Aussie BBQ on Sunday night was delicious with plenty of food and at a very reasonable price, plus a great atmosphere. The highlight of our trip would have to be the sunrise kayak, we saw turtles and dolphins as well as some of the prettiest beaches I've seen in Australia. The hosts Sally and Steve do a great job and are full of information about the area (and can also make a great coffee), Marie is a fantastic cook and is always smiling! The accommodation is clean and the common area has a real homely feel! Great location just down the road from Cow Bay. I would recommend this place to everyone! Thanks again! Can't wait for our next visit!!!
