“All the benefits of a week long retreat in just two nights.”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

Our decision to visit Cow Bay Homestay was prompted as much by price as it was by location. It is fair to stay that we were staggered to arrive and find what a beautiful place we had chosen, and what value-for-money we were getting. But the really memorable part was coming home two days later, feeling as refreshed and energised as if we had just emerged from a week-long retreat. Marion not only looks after her facilities and her guests like they are made of gold, she does a breakfast that is really worth waking up for.

Good to hear that the couple of days here at Cow Bay Homestay B&B and in the Daintree did the trick. Yes, it is great to get away and only 2 hours drive for you. Thank you for writing this great review.

We stayed here on our 'babymoon' - our last holiday together before our first child was born. It was simply the best B&B I have ever stayed in. We arrived in the afternoon and were met by the lovely Marion, whose first question was "how do you feel about full moon rises?" We jumped in her car and whizzed down to Cow Bay Beach to see the most spectacular full moon rise I've ever seen. It was such a great start to an amazing holiday. The property is beautiful and there's even a rainforest walk you can do on the property - we saw an enormous monitor lizard and lots of beautiful birds, including a sunbird building its nest on the back deck. The breakfast each morning was delicious and it was just so lovely to chat with Marion about the different things we could do in the area and just about life in general. This is a great location from which to explore Cape Tribulation and the Daintree rainforest. We will be coming back to visit for years to come.

Hi, and so pleased to hear about your first child. Thank you for taking the time to write and so detailed too. That was a perfect full moon we had that day. Looking forward to your next visit with all three of you!

A super nice and relaxing place in middle of the rainforest. It is not too far away from areas attractions and within walking distance from Cow Bay beach. The house itself had very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Marion was very helpfull and welcoming.

The only downside with the whole area in general was evening dinner options were very limited. It is probably easiest to bring own groceries.

2 nights felt a bit short stay as we could have spent one day just hanging around in homestead.

Thank you for writing this lovely review for us. Most guests have the same sentiment, whishing that they could stay longer.
Regarding dinner options, here are 3 restaurants here in Cow Bay, one half way to Cape Tribulation and four in Cape Tribulation not counting the pizza place. All of these receive very good comments from our guests. Some of these are resorts but all are open to the public for lunch and dinner. The council does not allow B&B guests to do there own cooking.

My husband and I stayed at Cow Bay Homestay for 2 nights. The drive from Cairns was absolutely beautiful, especially after crossing the Daintree Ferry, and we were surprised at how short of a drive it felt! Marion was a wonderful hostess and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The B & B was clean and cozy and Marion's personal touches made us feel special. With only 2 rooms, this is the perfect place to stay if you want a relaxing getaway from the city or even come up with family and have the area to yourself. We will be back!

We stayed here in April 2013 with our two children (8 and 10). We wanted to experience the rainforest away from the tourist trail, but in some comfort. This ticked all those boxes and more. It is a beautiful house in a stunning area and Marion was so kind, helpful and welcoming. She made us feel that she had all the time in the world for us, helping in countless ways from advice on how to make the most of the day to mailing an item of clothing we had left. All the other reviews have described it all already.
If there's a downside it is that you have to remember you are in a rainforest and that you have to make allowances for the wildlife - for example you can't always swim in the sea and if you go down to the creeks to swim (which are great) make sure you have plenty of insect repellent on.
We found Cow Bay Homestay a great way to explore the area and meet lots of the people who live there. For our daughters one of the highlights was running naked in the garden in a tropical downpour with Marion hooting with laughter - you can't do that at a hotel!

In July 2012 we, young couple (26 and 28), stayed at the Cow Bay Homestay for 2 nights. We were welcomed by Marion, she runs the place and knows a lot about Daintree. We were given a map, tea and cookies. The homestay is a very big 'tropical' wooden house with nice rooms and ensuite bathrooms. Breakfast is great, people are nice, and you really have the feeling you live in Daintree yourself when staying here!
