We stayed her for a couple of nights on a 3 week tour of Madagascar and it was one of the best we stayed in, a lovely setting and I would have happily stayed a few more days. Every aspect of the hotel was excellent, really nice rooms which were spotlessly clean. The restaurant was interesting split level, very high ceiling really good food. The level of service overall was outstanding, the grounds are lovely and you can walk straight out into nearby canyons from the pool. My highlight was having a drink and watching the sunset from the terrace. I'd highly recommend this place.

Wonderful Malagasy Desert-Arizona rocky landscape setting for this quality hotel. Staff were professional courteous and very well trained however also had that classic Malagasy smile ! Food was excellent and the local wine is worth trying. Lovely spacious room around the hotel to stroll. The hotel management offer meat scraps to the local yellow billed kites that seem to know when it is lunch time. The rooms are well equipped however as with many other lodges didnt have a fridge - strange. Wall sockets didnt work adjacent to bed though plenty of others available. Wine and beer a little more expensive than others though in the lounge pre-dinner you do get offered aperitifs on the house. Hard to fault the hotel other than not having a fridge in the room and some occasional noise from adjacent rooms.
Isalo reserve offers a totally different environment from the central rainforests. Rugged rocky arid woodland and crest from which you get a wonderful panoramic view. Different wildlife to see -stick insects, scorpion, iguana, plus a grass snake, alongwith the wonderfull Dancing Sifaka in which we spent a good 20 minutes watching a pair sun themselves in the open on the side of the valley ! The natural pools are freezing and only for the brave regardless of how hot and sweaty you are and not the isolated quiet oasis that we may have expected.
Learnt about some great burial traditions during our walk. The camp offers a great chance to get up close to ring-tailed lemurs and brown lemurs both of which have learnt they can get some easy food from the campers.

We thouroughly enjoyed our short 2 nights stay there. Everything was near perfection. I particularly appreciated the professionalism of the staff in general as well as their politeness. Food was exellent. and we also enjoyed the massage very much.

When we came to stay here, we'd just been trekking/camping for 3 days and this was the perfect place to relax and recharge.
Room was the best we stayed in Madagascar, the shower especially was a delight! The pool was lovely and often there was just us using it. Some of the food was superb, although breakfast (fruit, ok, hard toast not so) was disappointing in comparison. We also had a massage there, it was divine, probably the best massage I've ever had. The service generally was superb.
The way the whole place sits within the surrounding rock was very beautifully done.

Room Tip: As close to the reception as possible so near to the pool.

After staying at a few indifferent hotels (as expected) on our wildlife tour of Madagascar. It was good for the soul, to stay a few days at a hotel where all was as you wanted it to be. Gorgeous setting, stylish comfortable accommodation with lovely touches and excellent service. The gardens and grounds around the hotel were almost as rich in flora and fauna as the national park.
We had a real adventurous hike, on a baking hot morning, through Isalo NP (definitely recommend having a dip at the 'Picine Naturelle'). Of which, one of the anticipated highlights was sighting (we did) the endemic Benson's Rockthrush at the 'Cascade de Nymphs'. We had to smile later that evening, when the owner revealed that they nest in the gardens.
Another highlight of staying at Relais (this sounds a bit sad, i know), was having our clothing lovingly laundered, ready to see us through the rest of our trip.
Overall an excellent hotel.
p.s. We felt the room lighting was romantic, and in keeping with the surroundings :)

Superbly designed to fit into the rocky surrounds of this magnificent area in Madagascar. The individual chalets are well appointed and beautifully set in the grounds of the main hotel. The food was all well-prepared though we had the occasional problems ordering for a group (of 13) where numbers and choices became somewhat mixed up. This could probably be overcome if the choice of language could be defined - we tired French (it being a French-owned hotel) but weren't always convince we were 'getting through'. Ther is also the matter of paying at the bar (seen all over Madagascar) where the bar doesn't have till and individual drinks bills have to be raised at reception. The grounds are great for wildlife - one of the main aims of our trip and access to nearby sites makes this an axcellent centre for exploring. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would like to go back or to visit the sister hotel down the track Hotel de Roy.

Comfortable room, lovely setting, good food, attentive and helpful staff - they even went to the trouble of cooking vegetarian Malagasy food for me. The patio outside our room was a sun trap, very welcome on a chilly afternoon. The rooms are cleverly laid out so that the patios feel very private, though they are actually very close to each other. There is a large communal lounge with a selection of games and a bar nearby. My only complaint is that the lighting in the room is quite dim - but that seems to be the norm acoss Madagascar.
