Food and service was very good. Although there were children in the restaurant it was still a "grown up" place to have dinner

As several recent visitors have mentioned, the service was dreadful, and the food was poor.

We were kept waiting for 1/2 hour, despite having a reservation, and despite there being plenty of free tables. They appeared to be trying to stagger the demand on the kitchen... we would have been far better appeased at a table with a drink!

The menu looked fantastic.

The food, when it eventually arrived, was quite literally appalling. The steaks were fatty and really poor quality meat.

Food was ok, very very well done steak still comes out a little pink in the middle, the onion soup is watery and thin, the mashed potatoes are an odd cardboard colour and taste. The flaming creme brulee was not only impressive, it was delicious, but overall completely average food and service.

We made reservations 4 months in advance, and at an off time of day to get a good table, but when we arrived we were seated in the back beside the kitchen even though the restaurant was nearly empty. When we asked to be moved we were told no, as that is where our waiter was located. When we asked again if we could change waiters and sit in the middle we were told that all those waiters were eating and there was no one there to wait on us. Our waiter was awful. He messed up our order and then when we got our bill refused to take off an extra drink that we did not order stating that it was a "big" bottle of water. We wanted ketchup for our fries, but were not offered this and could not get anyone to get it for us. All the other servers just said to get our waiter who was no where to be found. If you are going to try to pretend to be an American restaurant than you should make an effort to find out what Americans eat, like ketchup on fries or steak sauce on steak. It took us about 2 hours to eat dinner as we could not even get our bill becasue we couldn't find our waiter. This took time away from the park and ruined our romantic Christmas dinner. I felt like we were seated in the kitchen with the help as there was not even a door between the dining room and kitchen.

Having just read the last few reviews, I'm really surprised as we had a great experience here on 2nd January. We had a reservation for 5pm, as this earlier time suited our plans that day. The restaurant were quiet and we were seated and served straight away. The service was excellent; our waitress even came over to say goodbye when her shift ended at 6pm and when my daughter dropped her fork, a waiter rushed over with a clean one before we'd even noticed!
Our food was excellent and we thought it was really quite good value, considering the quality. The French onion soup was gorgeous and my husband thought his steak was one of the best he'd had - and that's saying something! My vegetarian option of mushroom ravioli was very pleasant and made more interesting by an unusual selection of winter vegetables. The puddings were delicious and we left stuffed and very satisfied! We were also impressed by the kids' meals - our daughter had an enormous, good quality burger and a huge portion of tasty choc brownie.
The toilets were clean; could just have done with more than 2 cubicles in a big restaurant.
We will definitely be returning here!
