It's no coincidence that The Old Chestnut Tree has a consistent stream of five star rating. My wife and I had a five star experience that we cherish as one of the most unassuming and relaxing out-of-town stays we've ever had. From the impeccably decorated (and clean) rooms and halls and bathrooms, to the homely breakfast, to the cordiality and open arms of the hosts, we left impressed and refreshed.

The town itself is wonderful, and a bicycle is very useful if you hope to explore the surrounding wooded areas and lakes region.

Cecile gladly pointed us to a local restaurant which was in itself such a lovely dining experience that it called for a repeat visit on the second night.

We look forward to returning to Silkeborg!

We really enjoyed our staying in The Old Chestnut Tree, because Cécile and Peder are very kind
and they have been very welcoming. They gave us information about restaurants and place that we could visit during our holiday in Silkeborg. The house is really nice, clean and very quiet. The bathroom was cleaned every day. The city center is 5 minutes walking and the Museum Jorn is behind the B&B. In conclusion it was the best B&B in Denmark we stayed and we reccomend it who want to visit Danmark.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Old Chesnut Tree B&B. We based ourselves at Silkeborg and travelled each day to Herning to watch the European Dressage champrionships (about a 30 minute drive).

As regular hotel travellers we were not sure of what to expect from a B&B but we were delighted with our room (spotlessly clean and very modern), a spacious bathroom with a great shower, and the overall experience (Cecile is a great host!). The room included a fridge with water/soft drinks included, a Nexpresso coffee machine and TV with a number of cable channels. There was also a parking space as we had a rental car. It worked really well. We also had breakfast one moring (5 DKK each) and it was well worth it.

We ate in Silkebord each evening and it was a pleasant 5-10 minute walk to the various restaurants. We would recommend Safran for an evening meal as it was great food for a very reasonable price.

All in all a really good stay!

We were 2 adults and our 7 year old daughter. The B&B is spotlessly clean, in a beautiful old house with a lovely enclosed garden area, and your hosts Cecele and Peder are really friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Cecele was very helpful with good tips for eating and activities, and couldn't do enough to give us a good stay. As others have mentioned, the breakfast (served either out in the garden or inside, depending on the weather) was plentiful and delicious with a good variety to suit most tastes. The room is great, light and quiet with plenty of space and a comfy bed. The extra room (eg for an accompanying child) was spacious , bright and spotless. We enjoyed our stay here immensely, not only because of all the natural beauty and activities and attractions of the silkeborg area, but also because we were made to feel so welcome. Top marks (from 2 who have travelled pretty much the whole planet in all price levels and standards imagineable through the last 20 years) for a great place to stay. If you are considering a place to stay in Silkeborg, just relax and choose here...you won't regret it.

Several times a year I travel to Silkeborg, DK to visit my 94 year old Mormor (grandmother). As a child, I found Silkeborg / Sejs magical with the panoramic views, water, and charming touches. I have now found the ONLY place in Silkeborg that matches the town's esthetic appeal and warm welcome. This bed and breakfast run by Celine and Peder boasts a well appointed and comfortable room, modern bath, fantastic morning breakfast (worth it), and a warm fire at night to envelope you in the true spirit of Denmark. Nestled within 5 min of town's center square and 2 blocks from the water (kayaks, boats, mini golf), you are welcomed into their beautiful and clean home with comfort, warmth, friendliness, and charm. I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else when I come to visit my favorite place of youth and joy ... Silkeborg. In a way, I have found my home away from home. Thank you Celine and Peder.
