Our hotel of choice when we travel to the north of Hannover.

Good:
Fair pricing = value for money!
Service is personal, very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is fresh & rich.
Location is remote, therefore very quiet. You really get your sleep. There is even a small town center for getting groceries and stuff close by.

Ok:
Rooms are stylish country style, not the most modern ones.
Service is not 24/7: The other day we had a problem with the room late at night and didn’t get someone to sort it out, there was a phone number which did not work. On the other hand: if you insist on service like this, be prepared to pay the related premium.

To be improved:
There would be one thing or another, but it all would be related to a price premium. Better keep it like this.

Room Tip: We would prefer rooms on the 2nd floor to those on the 1st (ground) floor.

We were due to see a band at the Blues Garage in Isernhagen - Hannover, travelling from the UK.
Looked around trip advisor and came across the previous review, which is positive, so we booked it for 2 days in May 2012.
We took a Taxi from the Airport which cost 24 Euro's and took about 15 - 20 mins.
The Hotel is really close to the train station (about 7 mins walk) so you could easily get to it by train on a zone pass.
Isernhagen is set in a really nice rural location, with what looks like some nice walks/cycle routes around the village.
I can't say enough about how nice the people are who run the hotel, warm and welcoming on our early arrival and found us a room that was ready (see photos).
The room was very large and had kitchen facilities, although we didn't cook anything, it was nice to be able to make snacks and coffee.
The room was well furnished and finished to a very good standard.
It had a really nice shower room and flat screen TV.
Broadband is supplied via registering to a third party and using the hotels WIFI. Costs are 1 euro per hour, minimum 5 euro load onto your account to get started.
Breakfast was of a high standard with lovely local fresh rolls, a selection of cheese/cooked meat and the usual cereals/yoghurt/pastries/juice. All of this with the option of a freshly boiled egg, tea or coffee.
The village is set out along one long road. Facilities include a couple of restaurants (really nice Italian - Leonardo's), couple of bakeries/coffee shops and a some local shops.
The Blues Garage is about a 10 minute walk away and a really nice venue.
You get a key to the front door, so you have no problem letting yourself in after the concert.
During the day we went into Hannover to view the Herrenhausen Gardens via the local train which takes about 13 mins into Hannover and a couple of stops, then out on a tram to the Gardens.
This was at the recommendation of the Hotel owner who speaks very good English.
It was a great choice and we really enjoyed our time there, all done on a 2 zone ticket.
Overall i concur with the previous review and heartily recommend it.
I would have no hesitation to go back.

Stayed at the Hotel Engel to watch a concert at nearby Blues Garage. Very spacious and clean rooms, including an alarm clock and small refrigerator. Hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English (I don't speak any German). Breakfast was typical European- meats, bread, yogurt, cereal, etc.

Excellent value for the money. I would definitely choose Hotel Engel again in the future.
