Owner description: ... an extraordinary experience! In beautiful and dramatic Western Norway, at the foot of the Voeringsfoss waterfall and by the ascent of the Maaboedalen valley, lies the Norwegian Nature Centre in Øvre Eidfjord with its breathtaking but unobtrusive architecture. The purpose of the centre is to gather and distribute knowledge about Norwegian nature, climate and environment. We made it our task to bring about an intimate meeting of modern man and nature. The Norwegian Nature Centre is an experience centre for the whole family, featuring lively exhibitions, hands-on activities and visual effects. Today, the centre is one of the leading centres of its kind, featuring state-of-the-art technological effects and innovative teaching technologies. Our supervideograph is a modern 225-degrees panoramic cinema, built in cooperation with Ivo Caprino who also made the film "Fjords, Mountains and Waterfalls" which is shown here. Our exhibitions are available in 13 different languages.

We visited this center as part of a cruise shore excursion with little sense of what awaited us. The focus of the center goes well beyond local flora and fauna, but includes much on those subjects. The high definition video of a flight through the fjords alone was worth seeing as was the video display of 19th century Norwegian painters; the canvases were projected and accompanied by music by Grieg and others, The geology and geography of the area was featured through interactive displays. We were very impressed, especially by the goats on the turf roof..

Great displays and visual exhibits in centre to explore. Children would enjoy the displays and especially the goats grazing on the roof of the shop/ cafe across from the centre.
Very helpful staff that took time to answer questions

This was pretty fun. First you get to see a 20 min video and after there is a little museum made where you walk through. Very much info and very educative!

The film that is shown is entertaining and worth watching. I enjoyed the section where they show how the various countries we're formed over millions of years.

We were staying in Eldfjord and not the interested in going to nature center. So glad we did. Enjoyed the film and the exhibits. Must do if you are in the area. Good store and cafe across the street.
