Very friendly, welcoming staff.
Understated decoration in room. Large LCD TV and digital radio. Wifi access.
Unhurried ambience in restaurant. Cold buffet breakfast, which wold have benefitted
from freshly-brewed fairtrade coffee

In a quiet part of town - but only 10mins from central bus station and waterfront with good bars and restaurants. Clean, bright, modern rooms. Good breakfast. Overall great value for Norway!!

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and am surprised I have not done a review for it! The price of the room has gone up during this time however this still seems to be the cheapest hotel in the centre. It is in a great location, close to everything and about 10 minutes walk from the bus station. I stay at this hotel because it is very convenient and a nice stay.

I checked in and reception were very friendly. At one point I think they recognised me because I have stayed there several times in a short space of time. Reception provide maps and can give directions.

My room was an average size, cosy and clean. I had a nice large flatscreen TV on the desk. Bathroom was a bit on the small side. Also the shower is a walk-in shower so water can end up across alot of the bathroom floor! It was a bit cold outside, even for June, but the heater in the room soon warmed me up. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. I like staying at this hotel which is why next time I am back over for an event in Haugesund, I would automatically choose this hotel.

I stayed at the BW Hotel Neptun between 26-27 of April and paid 77 Euro for a single including breakfast (through needahotel.com). Given the fact that this hotel is located in Norway where everything is more than expensive, it was a very, very good deal.

The hotel is easy to find and checking in was very quick. I had a room on the ground floor which I normally don’t like but the amount of traffic was so light that I couldn’t notice. The rooms was medium sized with a 120 cm bed which was pretty much OK. Cleaning was good and there was a TV, minibar and all the other usual hotel stuff. The bathroom wasn’t too big but in fair shape and had a heated floor.

I enjoyed the breakfast, not so much to choose between but the dishes were very tasty and any hotel that gives me smoked salmon in the morning should be rewarded.

The location is very good, more or less in the heart of the city and you are no more than five minutes walk from the nice (but expensive) restaurants and bars. Haugesund is not so big but a few hotels are way off the center such as the ParkInn and SAS Radisson so make sure you get a central hotel.

To sum it up, no luxury at all but great value and I can definitely recommend this hotel to anyone not wanting to pay twice as much.

  • Liked — Great value at a good location
  • Disliked — The interior of the hotel isn't that inspiring

I stayed at Neptun for two nights in late april 2006. Neptun is an old hotel and it showes. The rooms are ok and the beds are good. The bathrooms are not so good. Everything is working, but the shower is not "confined" meaning that when you take a shower the water flow all over the bathroom floor, behind the wc etc. This is very unpracticle as you have to use several towel to clean up the mess and then you have no towels left for later.

The location of the hotel is very practical. It is situated 100 meter from the end of the shopping street "Haraldsgaten". The cinema is just around the corner and grocery stores 150 meters away. Pubs and nightlife is located in haraldsgaten and at the quay. The staff was very helpful and nice. There is free parking right in front of the Hotel and that is very convenient.

The first thing I always look for as I stay at a new hotel is emergency exits. Examening the emergency exit I was supposed to use from my room I found it had to be opened by a key. The key was inside a box a bit from the exit. However I could not see it being very easy to extract the key in case of emergency. This is something the hotel should improve.

As i travel alot i frequently use my computer to hook up to the net to do some work. Neptun advertised with free wlan in the hotel. This was however dissapointing as the network had very short range. At the first room I was assigned I could not find the network at all. I asked for a new room and got one straight away, no problems there. At the new room the network fell out at regular intervalls, quite annoying actually.

All in all the hotell is ok, but there are these small things that pull down the impression.

I stayed at the Neptun for three nights in March 2005; the staff were great, very pleasant and friendly and very forthcoming when it came to volunteering suggestions for areas to visit (and what to miss out), which was most useful.

The accommodation was not bad at all; the bathroom was clean and fresh with a shower, sink and toilet and the bedroom was nicely presented, although fairly small, with all the usual fitments - TV, radio, mini bar, writing desk, etc. - but no drinks-making facilities. It was only on checking out that I saw a notice in reception saying that these were in some rooms but not all, and were available on request, so don't forget to ask if you want a kettle. On the plus side, there was free parking right outside the hotel.

The Neptun has no restaurant but there is a breakfast area where a buffet is served every morning - you help yourself to cereal, toast, fruit juices, cold meats and drinks; the coffee was diabolical, but maybe that was just bad luck!

Overall, I would describe the Neptun as decent Bed and Breakfast accommodation but it definitely loses points for not being able to offer an evening meal. There are a number of restaurants within two or three blocks so you won't starve, but they're mostly fast-food places.

Haugesund itself was nice - quiet and really well positioned to travel to some truly stunning scenery.

We wanted a nice hotel for a weekend break in Haugesund in November, and booked the hotel for £65 for a twin room for the night.
When we arrived in the charming town, it was a short ride from the airport and a beautiful stroll through the Christmas-lights and shops to reach the hotel. We were met by a member of staff with excellent English - he couldn't believe that we were in Haugesund in November!, but we assured him that the cold temperatures outside only added to the cosy feel of the hotel. The room was clean with beautiful views over the sea (Haugesund is set right on the river mouth). Scandinavian Breakfast is included in the room price (essential, considering the price of food in Norway!!). Overall, a delightful getaway!
