“Overnight stay”
Reviewed 21 October 2013 via mobile

Arrived late in the evening on my way home following a 3 week trip working offshore.
Greeted and reception by a very friendly red headed lady who got myself and my colleagues checked in quickly and efficiently.
It took me a while to find my room as the hotel is quite large. I eventually found it, not far from the hotels spa.
Wow! What a room! When I opened the door, I thought I had been given the wrong room! It opened into a living room with huge tv, dining table, mini bar etc.
The bedroom was through a doorway and had a large bathroom which had the lights come on automatically as you walked in! Very swish.
The whole suite felt and looked brand new and I think it probably was.
Free wifi which was pretty fast and reliable.
I didn't eat dinner or use the bar due to late arrival, but enjoyed a lovely breakfast which was a huge and varied buffet that had something for every taste and dietary requirement.
Excellent hotel. Thank you to all the lovely friendly staff.

The staff are polite and helpful and I had a nice stay, but the hotel needs a little shining up. The bathroom was newly renovated, but the room felt a littls worn out - and what was that smell?? The best thing here is the sauna and the swimming pool - really good! (I don't care for spa etc.) One evening I had the evening buffet, it was ok, but not worth 445 NOK.

I have been here several times always for a world music festival when the hotel is buzzing with musicians and participants, the food has improved, great breakfast buffet in the large restaurant and a good menu especially the sea food.
But be careful when choosing a room as they are very varied, from excellent to very sparse and tired, from quiet to facing a coach and truck stop where engines are left running into the night and early in the morning vibrating the whole room. The views are great, the location very convenient with a new art centre across the road.. During the festival some concerts are in the hotel which is very convenient and in the nearby art centre.
The pool and sauna and spa are a great relaxation.

Room Tip: avoid the rooms facing the truck and coach park as they run their engines all night.....

The hotel is located in Forde in the Western part of Norway. Surrounded by majestic mountains it is a great location for exploring the area on foot, bicycle or by car. We came there for the world music festival that takes place every year in the first weekend of July. Accommodation is expensive during that time but it is worth while staying at the hotel as the concert venues are within walking distance. Some of the concerts take place at the hotel. Rica Sunnfjord has a pool, sauna and a spa. It has regular rooms and suites. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the spacious restaurant. It also has a nice coffee bar, inviting outdoor areas, and free parking. Forde also has other restaurants and shops where you'll find everything you need. Apart from the spectacular scenery there are art galleries, museums and mountain farms to visit nearby. It is recommended to explore the fjords and particularly the Sognefjord and its surroundings when you are in the area.

I`ve stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions during my time as a part time student working on my masters. The best HOTEL to stay at while in Foerde. This hotel keeps the same price range as other norwegian hotels - expensive. And even though you are paying a stiff price -don`t expect luxury. (The breakfastbuffet is pretty impressive, but that`s about it.)
The rooms are simple, old and clean. If you stay here, remember to ask for a quiet room - away from the receptionarea, away from the bar and away from the kitchen.
I didn`t get very much sleep here during my first visits due to thin walls...

Nicely located in Foerde: short walkingdistance to shops and restaurants.

(If you are travelling on a budget you can easily get a nice, cheaper place to stay if you don`t mind sleeping in the camping site in Foerde - they rent rooms, cabins and beautiful apartments for half the price of a hotelroom.)

We were initially directed to a room in the old section which was very tired so we asked to be moved. The new room, while adequate, was entirely lacking in personality. There were no coffee making facilities. No porterage was available.
Our buffet meal was, again, adequate, with a wide range of meats and stews etc. There was parking available. The breakfast was basic buffet.

Stayed at Rica Sunnfjord Hotel with my wife on our way from Bergen to Geiranger. The hotel was nice, with free wi-fi, friendly and good service at the reception and a good breakfast.

However, the room and the hotelwing we stayed in was rather outdated, and did not match the price of the room - therefore an average rating.

Btw, the city of Førde is rather sleepy - we arrived on a Saturday and the reception recommended us a bar for a drink in the evening. When we arrived at the bar, there was two people besides us and the bartender, and no further people showed up when we was there :)
