“Camping in a nice setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2011

We stayed there for 2 nights - first night we stayed in a dorm and a tent on second night. The tent was all setup and the nice surprise for us (who weren't really used to be camping on holiday) was that there were mattresses on a wooden frame so we weren't really camping, but that suit us very well. We did our own cooking with the ecological lettuce fresh from the farm and we also tried the fresh raspberry. The owner was very friendly and helpful in advising on the neighborhood. Definitely worth the $$.

We had never stayed at a hostel before and didn't know what to expect and we were so happy we chose to book this wonderful hostel for 6 nights. We had a double room in the main house and shared a bath and kitchen with other travelers. The host, Trond, makes the living room and dining room of his house a common area for the travelers. There is internet access, but no tv or phones. WHAT A PLEASURE that there are no televisions here. The views from the hostel are unbelievable and the area is fantastic for an active vacation. The hostel has mtn bikes available to borrow for free. Biking along the fjord: beautiful! We did a glacier walk and climbed to the top of MT. Molden. Trond, the host, is very knowledgeable about all activities. We relied on public transportation which was doable. LOVED it here!! BUT all the cautions about prices of food, etc. are true..SO..buy food at the store, cook at the hostel and eat out occasionally. Would go back in a second!

A little private bed and breakfast in the hidden little town of Solvorn on the Sognefjord, what this place lacks in publicity it makes up for in things to do. The grounds alone have an awesome minigolf course, slack line, free mountain bikes, and dozens of other activities to keep you busy in a town that has one cafe and no atm.
However, easy access by bus or car to Jostedalbreen, three famous stave churches, and the endless wonders of the Sognefjord keep you busy most of the time.
The host is always around to very enthusiastically help you plan your trip and at night, most of the 20-25 guests hang out all together in the living room and swap stories and information.
Overall a fantastic place, and the best part, at least for me, is the free use of the guitar...

Good location, good atmosphere among guests, friendly owner and staff but too busy with the fruit farm, fruit prices above market, rooms a bit poor and not clean enough! Marketing driven: free computer access in exchange for recommendations on facebook! A
bit hyped! Still overall OK

We normally don't like to stay in hostels but this was definitely and exception. Everything is clean, well organized, makes sense. We stayed in a private room and camped. We picked veggies from the garden and cooked in the kitchen. There is an unbelievable view from the porch. It is also very easy to do things like hiking, glacier walking and bike riding. They have bikes you can take so you don't have to pay to rent a bike. Highly recommended.

We had three wonderful days/nights in Solvorn at Eplet. Trond has gone above and beyond to create a unique experience (croquet golf, free bikes, hammocks, BBQ, feeding the sheep, picking fruit / vegatables for dinner) for a variety of travelers. To top it off, Eplet has an amazing view of the Lustrafjord. Great value in a great town with plenty of activities.

Make sure you borrow the bikes, head over to Urnes and bike the 13km to Feigumfoss Waterfall. It was spectacular. Overall, we can't recommend this place enough (even to those who might not otherwise consider staying at hostel/community type places).

P.S. Also, if you have a car make sure you stop by the Lustrabui Bakery near Dale (north of Solvorn). We seriously had the best cinnamon rolls, brownies and onion bread. Yum!
