“Great place to stay-being very welcome.”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Solvorn is a quite touristic place in Norway because of Urnes wooden church that is 15 min trip by ferry and beautiful fjords around. I was very surprised to find such a welcoming place, very cosy and ecofriendly among busy places like this one in Norway. Prices are small for expensive Norway. I stayed in a tent with beddings for 20EUR, which is nothing for Norway. You can bring your own tent and it will reduce the price for a half. Kitchen is very clean, showers, big yard with hammocks and some attractions for kids, library, WiFi, computers, plus apples and berries on a request just from the garden.
I would not return for the church, but for mountaineering and hiking-definately.

Room Tip: There are rooms two, three, four, dormitory, but I prefer tents.

Stayed for four nights. The most relaxed and happy I've been in years. Trond and Agnethe were very helpful when we asked for help and advice. I.e when you engage with them they fully engage back - focused, friendly, helpful. And when you don't engage with them it's like they're not there so you can completely relax. The rules of the place are entirely in keeping with the atmosphere they strive to create - no showers after 10pm, no late night partying, no illegal substances. But within those rules the atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. And the place is very clean. For a nominal fee you can pick food from the vegetable garden to cook. There is decent wifi in the house. There are sheep you can feed if you want. There is a great deal to do during the day if you want. There are short trails right from Solvorn if you want that. There are epic trails further afield (Glacier Walk, Bike Riding on the opposite shore). Note that like in the rest of Norway nothing is open on Sundays so if you arrive late on a Saturday you may want to arrive with food :) But there are basics available right at Solvorn to get you through a day. It's a cash only place but we knew that and arrived with many Kroner. Go find their website - www.eplet.net - it's a very accurate and information packed site - you'll learn all you need right there. It's "Budget" in the sense of "for Norway" - you can't get an experience like this for less in the region. And there are very few places in the entire country where you can stay for less than a US$100 a night and get a room to yourself.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house: The walls are thin - maybe do lots of things during the day so you're v...

Eplet is a gem! Friendly, helpful owners, mixed with a shifting cast of interesting fellow travelers from around the globe, in a special setting just above the fjord. Highly recommended to all but those looking for an anonymous hotel experience. Take the fjord ferry from Bergen and after you leave Eplet visit Jutenheimen. Lovely!

We were, first amazed by the welcoming site and people, with all the facilities around, sheep slackline, hammock and so one. But we hav to say that we were surprised too, to pay the same prices for children under our tent.. for 4 people and two nights, we just didnt expect it on our low budget.
Anyway, that fact noted, we know why we pay. the set is beautiful, the view on the apple field and fjord, the kitchen with climbing path and living room for internet (no wifi in the tent), the "happy sheeps", the hammock... all in respect and eco-minded. the Bathrooms for tent were not the top of it, but we really enjoyed the site, the kindness around, and the spot where hikings and beaches are closed.
Thanks !

Room Tip: If the sun shines too warmly, install your tent at the end of the green area, near the last other wh...

We stayed for 3 nights in the dorm and definitely the best place we stayed at during our stay in Norway. The atmosphere is very relax, friendly, perfect for families and hikers . The view on the fjord is simply stunning and there are many so things to do nearby: hike to Molden, bike rides, glacier walk with Icetroll or simply bathing in the fjord.... WIFI is available and the homemade jelly and apple juice just so good. And prices are very moderate for Norway!

Room Tip: This is not really a hotel but more like a B&B with a campground.

What an amazing place. I intended on only staying one night at this lovely little B&B/hostel/campsite, but ended up staying for three nights. It's the perfect launching pad for all kinds of adventures, and what a place to come home to when your daily adventures are done! There are plenty of day hikes to keep you occupied and challenged, and Eplet provides a team of mountain bikes that they allow guests to take out on the trail with no cost. On site there are hammocks and croquet and sheep and a garden you are welcome to harvest from for a small fee, as well as a little general store, a kitchen, a library, a laundry room, and free wifi. But what most impressed me about Eplet was how knowledgeable and friendly the staff was. They were so eager to give advice and help me plan my days - a veritable fount of information! I took all their advice, and was never disappointed! Impeccably friendly and trusting to a tee, the staff made my trip to Norway!

Room Tip: If you're sleeping in a tent in the summer, bring something to cover your eyes from the sun, whi...

We were an extended family of 5 staying at Eplet, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a challenge to get to via bus, but it works, and it was well worth the effort. We had 2 rooms in the main house, and one bed in the dorm room in the other house. We cooked all of our meals in the kitchen, and were able to eat outside on the lawn overlooking the orchard and fjord. Spectacular! The main house was completely booked, so it was a bit of a challenge to find space in the kitchen at times, but we managed. We were there on a Sunday, and nothing is open, so you either eat pasta that the B+B sells, or find a car to get to the nearest city which is 20 minutes away. The owners are super cool and great with information before our trip, and also while we were there. They have a car you can rent for the day, which enabled us to get groceries and hike the glacier. The views at Eplet are incredible, and we woke up every morning in awe of the mountains and the fjord. Free bikes are fun to get around town and take on the ferry to the stave church, but other than that you have to be in super shape to ride the steep hills surrounding the B+ Apple. Great hikes and nice beach. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: In the main house, the rooms away from the bathroom are quieter. 2 have balconies were are nice.
