“Familyfriendly attraction”
Reviewed 26 December 2013

Around christmas it is a beautiful place to do the christmas-shopping in one of the small and cosy stores. , taking a trip with the horse and sledge, blowing your ouwn glass or making a candlelight. At summertime ere is also a lot to see and do, and since it is close to the Randsfjord it is always nice to combine it with a swim :)

“It worth to drive there from Oslo”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

It takes 2 - 2,5 hr to drive througt beutifull landskape. You may blow your own glass, look at producton of hand made glass. Many factory buildings turned into diferent shops. A beautifull bakery worth a wisit or go the restaurant with traditional Norwegian food.!

“Nice outing from Oslo”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

The drive from Oslo is around two hours through some very pretty scenery. You can definitely find some Hadeland glass to purchase at a reasonable price for Norway! And the setting was very lovely, with quite a few buildings to go through (factory buildings converted to shops). The Christmas store was a nice surprise. There was even a little animal petting area. There is also a nice little restaurant. I would recommend it as a unique outing from Oslo.

“Authentic glass factory 2,5 hours form Oslo”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

The glass factory is located 2,5 hours from downtown Oslo, so plan ahead and take the buss early (at around 9). The buss goes past the infamous island of Utøya. The best thing about it is that there is a free entrance which makes up for expensive buss tickets. The glassblowing workshop is authentic and it's fun to watch the glassblowers at work patiently creating masterpieces in a potentially dangerous environment.

We tried to blow our own glasses and we were kindly assisted by a cute young girl who was in her 2nd year of studying. However, one of our three glasses was spoiled, because she told my dad to stop blowing at some point and then to start again. And then, when she was cutting the glass using gass blowers she kept it there for too long, so the upper side melted too much adn there was a "hair" of glass which turned out into a sharp edge. My dad was quite disappointed and kept talking about it the whole day :(

The museum and the blowery is surrounded by many shops and cafes and it's hard to figure out what is where, so I think we did not manage to go into all houses :) I felt a bit tired of the repetitive assortment, but I got some wine glasses for a cheaper price. The restaurant could have put more effort into design. At the moment it looks like a Soviet canteen, so we were reluctant to buy any food there. Soft icecream is really good there though and cheaper than in the town!

All in all: nice blowery, good glass products (cheaper than in the shops, but still expensive for people outside Norway), nice cafe, not so nice restaurant, too many shops to be able to navigate in.

“nice place”
Reviewed 7 April 2013

The location is beautiful by a lake, I love the stores here, it is so many pretty tings to look at. I like the Christmas store and the candle store best. You will find a cafe in one of the buildings, it is very charming, and it is worth a visit.
