“Fresh breath for a business traveler”

When you travel a lot, most hotels doesn’t make any impression at all. But this one does. This newly renovated hotel, or resort is better name, was a cozy and relaxing place to be. I arrived late and had a three course supper in the restaurant. Good food with a perfect trout as the main course. From the restaurant you had perfect view to the ski slope, and is was close to the hotel entrance. The breakfast was an average Norwegian breakfast, except for the pancakes. That is quite rare in the Nordic countries.

Close to the bar and lounge area there was a large play room for kids with impressing slides and ball bins. Gives perfect combination, both for adults and children. Had I had more red wine, I probably would have tested the slides……

The room, or I should say the apartment, with a separated bedroom and a balcony, was nice with a dinner table, big sofa and comfortable armchairs. The only thing negative thing to say, is why did I come here alone and for one night only :-)

This is definitively a place where I could stay with me and my family.

I am absolutely shocked to read some of the negative remarks about the hotel, but I had an excellent stay here. I was here with my family for a week and absolutely enjoyed my stay here.
The staff was always smiling & willing to take an extra step to ensure we were comfortable. They all made us feel at home with their warm approach.
It is of course expensive but I guess its worth it. Slopes are bang opposite so it made more easy.

The Vestlia has been refurbished over the last few years and expanded, but it stll manages to retain a smaller, cozy feel. The rooms are spacious, many with balconies. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful, full of smiles. The spa was one of the best features of the hotel and FAR superior to the Dr Holms. While I was initially disappointed that you had to pay Kr100 extra to use the spa, I soon realised the upside......kids stayed in the hotel main (free) pool and the spa was more of a peaceful adult sanctuary. If you dont like kids running around while you are trying to relax away the pains of a day on the slopes....this is the place to do it!
The location of the hotel is the final icing on the cake. Next to the lifts (50 yards) on the Vestlia side of Geilo it is truly a ski in, ski out destination. If you are a cross country skier, you can follow the trail from the back door of the hotel and be out in the trails around the lake in 1 minute. It is a bit far from the town (taxi or a 30 min walk) but given that this is not a particularly vibrant place anyway....not a problem. I will definately be returning...thank you for a great stay!

The Vestlia is THE ski in/ski out property in Geilo, if the snow conditions are right...Even if they're not it's only a 50 yard walk from the bottom of the slopes to the hotel reception & is very handy.
Recently re-furbished the rooms are very clean & tidy & well presented, common areas are clean & uncluttered too.

You have free access to the swimming pool & sauna in the basement, remember a towel & footwear for there & back...

Reception staff were very friendly as were the bar staff in the large bar, there was occasional Entertainment" however it was very Norwegian (only to be expected in Norway??) & may not be to everyone's tastes...

As with all of Scandinavia bar prices are high & a pint of lager was the equivalent of £10-£11 & a bottle of house white wine approx £32, which was an eye opener & made for an almost teetotal holiday !!

Food in the restaurant was excellent from the buffet breakfast, which rotated between sausage & eggs to bacon & eggs daily there was cereal & fresh fruit & access to a waffle iron too, the evening meal was also very good & the weekly gala dinner saw the hotel packed & more seafood than I have ever seen before in one place !

Having stayed in the Park Inn in Geilo & also the Vestlia I'd return to the Vestlia purely for the convenient location, friendly staff, good food & confortable rooms - no problems..

It was a bit daunting travelling with 9 month twins, but we had an excellent time here. We got the express bus from the airport (it was only our party on it) and we checked into a lovely cabin in the Vestlia resort.....unfortunately the furthest from the hotel, and trying to get a buggy through a foot of snow was not good. The hotel had great facilities, including a soft play area.

The creche was great, quite expensive, but good. There is a sibling discount. You just pop them in whenever you want and pay at the end of your stay....great if you're kids are like mine and like it some days and hate it on others

The ski bus isnt very frequent though, we walked it to town...bit of a nightmare to be honest as the snow although great for ski-ing was a pain to walk in.

Food is expensive if you eat out. About £15 - £20 for pizza, but the co-op is good for self catering, still about double uk prices, but fair enough.

Ski-ing was great, not brill for advanced but enough slopes for me, and no lift queues! We loved it!

We will ski again in Norway...cant wait! Bring on more powder snow!

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip, teambuilding/strategy event.

Can't say I agree with most comments here.

Rooms (although) a bit dark were very nice and fresh. Spa area was nice, although a bit priceymaybe - but hey, this is Norway.

Food was very nice, and of the absolut best hotel meals I've ever tasted - both abroad and home in Norway.

As we went in Sept. sking was not an option, they do have a 9 hole golf course on the premises, not very well looked after maybe, but OK still.

Staff was friendly and service minded.
