....with proximity to highway E6 and Oslo Airport, but a little old fasioned with punch card for the door locks. Many people did bother with locking and unlocking their rooms.
Change to electronic locks !!!!!!!
Anyway, good value for money: 1480 NOK, two people, two nights !!

RicaHotel, Manager at Scandic Gardermoen, responded to this review, 3 October 2014
Dear Ask Voss_NorwayArne,

Thank you for your reply. I am happy to hear you had a good stay at our hotel and appreciated our location, close to both the highway and Gardermoen airport.

Regarding the locks on our guest room, our management are currently looking in to this and we hope they will be changed in the near future.

Best regards,

Joel Andersson

We stayed here for one night as our flight had been cancelled. The service was rather poor as they could not cope with the number of passengers and check in to the hotel took 90 minutes. Despite requests they did not staff the check in counter with a second person. We also did not receive a menu at the restaurant but a hefty bill in the end. The rooms were okay and we slept well but overall, not a good recommendation.

This was my last stop having been in six countries over the past six weeks. I stayed, of course, because I had a flight back home. The rooms are fairly nice, but this was the second Rica hotel I stayed in ( the other was the G20 in downtown Oslo ) and they both had poor ventilation. The weather seemed to be above average in temperature for Norway and when I went in the room it was hot and stuffy. The window would only open a short distance. There was a thermostat, but there is no air conditioning I was told. A feeble amount of air came out of a vent, but it did not help anything. I went to the desk to complain, and to her credit, the lady provided me with a fan, which saved the night. I made use of their exercise room, which is small and cramped.
Other than these , my stay there was OK. The staff were very nice and my steak dinner in their restaurant was quite acceptable, probably the highlight of my stay there. The bus shuttle, at a hefty fare, took me to and from the airport, If the point already has not been taken from my other reviews, be prepared in Norway to part with lots of money. The hotel rates, especially this one, were pretty reasonable, but everything else, especially restaurant meals, are enough to destroy the piggy back in rapid fashion! But what a beautiful country!

Room Tip: The noise was not really bad, but I had a glorious view of McDonalds.

Good location for a sleep-over before or after a flight to/from Oslo. Not at place you'd want to stay for more than one night. We ate at the restaurant - open from 6pm - very nice staff, food was quite good. Overall the staff was helpful and friendly. We stayed in a family room with two bunk beds - like a cabin on a ferry. With a baby cot, it was quite narrow. But as we only stayed there for approx. 10 hours, it was ok. Breakfast from 4am - great if you're traveling early.

Very close to the airport. Shuttle bus every 30 mins. Journey time 7 mins. Fare NOK 70. Rooms adequate. In house restaurant surprisingly reasonably priced. MacDonald's outside but did not visit. Good breakfast served from 4.00am!!! Excellent alternative to downtown Oslo prices if all you need is an overnight.

The only real advantages that this hotel has are being close to Oslo AIrport and having a fair restaurant. The rooms are clean and basic with small bathrooms. The really irritating part was that the rooms have what resembles bunk beds - the two upper ones being folded back when offering a "normal" two beds room. I felt uncomfortable, expecting to hit my head on the frame of the upper bed in the case of being startled from sleep (which did not happen, though).
I rate the hotel average because of cleanliness, helpfulness in the reception and good food in the restaurant. No need to go across to the neighbouring MacDonald's...
You'll need to pay for bus transport to the airport, but for convenience's sake there is an automatic ticket machine outside the reception where visa and other cards can be used.

I needed a place close to the airport to stay just overnight before an 11 am flight. There is a shuttle that runs every 15 min. or so during busy hours and costs approximately $30 round trip. It is approximately 15 min. from the airport and makes 2 stops at other local hotels to pick up and drop off. The room was clean. There was no A/c and if you're lucky enough to stay in a room just above the entrance, the alluring sounds and smells of shuttle buses and cigarettes will fill your room. I was exhausted after a long day of travel, so I really just wanted to order room service. Although their brochure says they have room service, they don't. Why they have it listed in their brochure is unclear. When I asked staff about it, they seemed a bit annoyed. There is a McDonald's, "7-11", and gas station within walking distance. The breakfast buffet was average, but at least it was included in the cost of the room. So if you JUST need a place to rest your head for the night, this place will do, but I wouldn't stay here more than 1 night if you can help it.
