A stones throw from important localities such as the Brewery and the Corner Store, this place is a gem. With plenty of great mountain biking trails in easy reach, it's the perfect destination for a great weekend. The attention to detail on the property is great - with everything you need at hand, such as firewood, fire lighters, etc. We had a big group of 10, so we had rented both the loft and the adjoining train carriage (same property and owners) to house us all - but tended to spend most of the time in the loft due to the numbers. All very comfortable with a really warm feeling. Definitely plan to return and try out the trails that we missed.
We were 10 men away to catch up and sample the famous mountain bike trails of Forrest. Otway Loft and Steam fitted us all comfortably with its retro fit out appealing to our eclectic mix and appreciation.
Great location within a short walk to the Cafe, General Store or Brewery, but then that is Forrest.
Great service from Fleur with the booking and the little extra touches didn't go unnoticed.
We cant wait to get back down that way again.
Just returned from a magnificent weekend away with a group of middle-aged "weekend warrior" dads. It was such a pleasure to be able to roll right out the door and enjoy the vast and beautiful terrain of the local mountain-biking park, as well as a walk around secluded Lake Elizabeth. But as much as we enjoyed the outdoor offerings, just relaxing back at home in such unique and charming accommodation was an equal highlight. The converted train carriage would appeal to kids/families, as well, and the entire property is filled with thoughtful little touches: play equipment, board games, hammock, wrap-around decking, even an antique piano that got a bit of a workout during our memorable visit! We'll be back...
We used Otways Loft as our home during our annual pilgrimage to Forrest for a weekend of Mountain Biking with the lads. It was the perfect base for us to return to after a hard day on the trails. The design of the house is both eclectic and functional. We loved the quirky elements of the build, including the old railway carriage turned kitchen. As it is with all good accommodation, the little things tend to make a difference - like the bay for washing our bikes, or the claw-foot bath with a view to relax my aching muscles. We liked that there was no TV, and we actually got to catch up properly listening to music by the fire, or out on the deck having a bbq. We even brought the guitars and I got on the (surprisingly in-tune) old piano, while others read old books contently in the comfy leather chairs. Fleur was excellent communicating with me about our arrangements and got back to me quickly on every matter. She's done a good job of identifying the type of accommodation that people desire in a place like Forrest and meeting the need both in terms of the property and the service provided. The only feedback (although of nominal importance to us) I could provide is that because of the nature of the build, it's prone to dust settling easily - and so some of the books, and corners etc may need a little extra attention from cleaners. But still, an easy 5 stars to give.
