I have lived in Sunderland for years and only just discovered how nice this place is. Especially impressed by the tropical plant area. Worth a visit!

We visited Sunderland Museum today with 2 of our grandchildren, 10 and 14, after not visiting for a couple of years, and whilst it is still an interesting place to visit, and of course free of charge, it is showing it's age in some places! Several of the displays which have 'buttons to press' no longer do anything, and some of those which have printing on are so worn the words cannot be read! Such a shame!
Also worth a mention, the cafe, which used to be superb, has also become tired! The waiting staff could do with a lesson or two in customer service!

This is a nice little museum which has lots of different areas to view I particularly like the art gallery upstairs and my grandson likes the ancient relics on show. The winter gardens are not very big but my grandson liked the big fish in stream and it is a pleasant walk around the gangway to see the tropical plants and trees, well worth a visit as it is free which is a bonus these days.

It is a good place to visit but there is not much to see and after a while it's just boring. The gardens itself are just tropical trees with very little explanations about them. They do seem interesting but not much to explain them
