We stayed with friends at the Marriott Sunderland for four nights in May 2013, using the hotel as a base for touring the NorthEast. We didn't utilise the restaurant or leisure facilities, but our rooms were excellent - large, very comfortable and with excellent views direct across the beach to the sea.
Breakfasts were the usual buffet style, but better than many we have encountered. Service was quick, the food appetising (and hot!) and served in a relaxed atmosphere.
A major advantage was the close proximity of assorted restaurants, very close to the hotel within a few minutes' walk - we sampled two Italian and an Indian restaurant - all small, excellent food, fine service, very reasonable prices - and a very short walk along the seafront to bed afterwards. I would recommend anyone staying at the Marriott Sunderland to give these places a try!More
